thanks.... i must admit when i look at that part of the kitchen its like i am going into another person's house....i love cooking, and before it got to that state i allways used to cook, only done the basic things then...
the ground rules have been set..put rubbish in bin, do not leave on work units...( kids are monkeys for this) wipe crumbs up after making sandwich.. wash up anything used straight away...... etc....
now that that end of the kitchen is CLEAN and TIDY i am going to start on the top end of the kitchen where the kitchen table is (well this is where it was when the last time i saw it:cool: it is now hidden under a huge mountain of items just dumped on and around it...
i would love to have a dresser on the end wall of the long kitchen, but that is where the big fish tank is going to be moved to with our phirahnas in, as the spare room is going to get done into a music room for my hubby and the boys so they can put all their gitars and amps etc in there....
the fish tank is on home made wooden stand with a homemade wooden lid, which is painted black:rolleyes: i have ideas in standing it down and painted it the same colours as the kitchen so it will blend in, and the gap underneath put some fabric curtains to hide some de-cluttering items ( junk)
i think i will do it when hubby is in work, he cant say no then:D
i want to say a BIG thank you to everyone for being so nice and kind, as i thought some peeps would have slated me on the state of my kitchen, but it goes to show if i can do it anyone can do it.... and with the inspiration of this thread, it give you the confidence to do it... especially the photos as to be honest i think that is what done it for me....actually seeing what people are posting about...Work to live= not live to work0 -
Feeling very inspired by the thread and itching to get going on a project! We have 2 ikea cupboards in pine that are looking a bit the worse for wear and I would like to paint them having seen what great results lots of you have got. It has got kind of inner panels, a couple of which have been broken, any ideas on what I could replace them with? I thought maybe fabric, but OH reckons it will accumulate dust (true!). Other things I thought of are maybe some sort of mdf panel like you get from Jali, but this looks a bit expensive. Anyone got any ideas please?
PS CTC your kitchen looks amazing - well done!
You could always fix the fabric on curtain wires at the top and bottom (like the ones you use for net curtains), then you would be able to take them off and wash them.0 -
I was in Dunelm yesterday and as I bought beautiful pink rosy fabric (a Sanderson linen lookalike)to cover our chairs + ottoman once I have F&B'd
That sounds like the fabric I bought last time I was in Dunelm.....I have no idea what I will be making out of mine....just liked it!!!
Been to the car boot this morning - baby slept in:j which meant by time I got sorted to go there was nothing much to be had:mad:
Bought some kitchen scales (pics when get round to setting up flickr!!) and couple of books but that was it - wish we had got organised to do car boot today there were hundreds of buyers - not many stalls, and I've got a back bedroom full of stuff to sell.0 -

I don't think anyone on here would slate anyone else for having a messy kitchen. We just love seeing photos and transformations of rooms. This is such an inspirational thread.0 -

I think this site gives you the "get up and go" when you see what other people are doing, a bit of incentive to do your own:beer:0

Thank you Vivaladiva & Haribo, I could not remember the maker's name of the measuring cone. :j I want one now!
Managed to persuade OH to stop at Dunelm on the way back from collecting this lovely bench, probably my best e-bay bargain ever.
Mind you, it did mean a 45 mile round trip and lunch out, but worth itI think. It is now sitting in my F&B queue while I decide which colour to paint it and what fabric to re-cover the seat!
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
