I am struggling to get hold of a wicker shopping basket.
Ideally I want a large one with a flat bottom, which is nice and sturdy, but no "real" shops seem to sell them and any on line ones seem to be very expensive.
TK max usually have them, and they come with realy pretty floral liners,I saw some yesterday they were around £9 something. They had such lovely stuff in there, just got new stock and had quite a lot of french inspired stuff which is something I love.Whenever I want something unusual I usually find it there and at a realy low price. The garden/patio/conservatory stuff they have at the moment is just fabulous and so cheap for what it is.I'm going back there today as I could'nt carry everything I wanted yesterday so had to put it by to pick up later.0 -

CTC your kitchen looks fab! I have exactly the same brown kitchen fronts as you did and would love to paint them white or cream. How did you do yours? Do you have to sand them and prime them and what paint did you use? Sorry for all the questions but I am scared I will make a mess of it and it will look awful and it will start peeling off.0

Be warned however that they are quite orange in colour and not the usual lovely mellow wicker colourWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0

Feeling very inspired by the thread and itching to get going on a project! We have 2 ikea cupboards in pine that are looking a bit the worse for wear and I would like to paint them having seen what great results lots of you have got. It has got kind of inner panels, a couple of which have been broken, any ideas on what I could replace them with? I thought maybe fabric, but OH reckons it will accumulate dust (true!). Other things I thought of are maybe some sort of mdf panel like you get from Jali, but this looks a bit expensive. Anyone got any ideas please?
PS CTC your kitchen looks amazing - well done!0 -

i must admit i thought it was going to be !!!!!! or bust so to speak with painting the cupboard doors, and you seen the before photo:eek: i felt i had nothing to lose as the kitchen was a state anyway i used dulux satinwood willow tree which is like a pastal green, and to be honest all i done was give them a dam good scrub /wash with star drops and then painted with a brush..i found the only thing once i had painted the door left it for a few minutes, andthen went back the brush out the runs....as i am not very good at glossing.... it said on the tin it would take 16 hours to dry... but it did take longer.. so i done one or two doors/drawers at a time so i could still cook in the kitchen...
with the old door handles there was like a metal scroll thing behind the knob.. so i took that off, i was going to get wooden handles and paint them, but once i put the old knobs back on i felt the contrast work... i also didnt paint the brown skirting under the units and the little brown strip running down in the corner top units... just to have a contrast... dont know whether it works or not, but i like it...
i used dulux as that was in b&q reduced.... must have been the end of lines of certain colours reduced from £9.98 to £4.98
but everyone is raving about the F & B paintsWork to live= not live to work0 -
