CTC your kitchen looks really smart now :T :T

It is amazing what you can achieve on a small budget, and it is looking shabby chic too with a twist of vintage with the tea towels over the appliances :)

I spent all my pennies on a meal out tonight with my family and DD1 friends but we do it so very rarely that it was a nice treat!

So now going to have to wait until payday to be able to do a few more projects :o

CTC your kitchen looks lovely and bright - beautiful!! :D A lick of paint makes a load of difference doesnt it - everything seems so much brighter!

I have been out today with my sister and there was so much stuff i could have bought but didnt - wasnt too impressed with any of the charity shops but i picked up some gorgeous photoframes in tkmax, a beautiful birdcage type lampshade (will take a pic once its up if it doesnt pull the ceiling down as its so heavy!) and a fab tiffany style bedside reading lamp. They had the le crueset items in the sale and i almost caved in and bought some but i REALLY dont need anymore kitchenware!!

I use my "good" mugs, milk jug and French press cafetiere on a tray on weekend mornings. :o

    Great idea, Haribo.

When I move, I'm setting up a quiet corner where I can sit and read and enjoy a cuppa. I have several (as in 4 - don't ask  ) 'vintage' wooden tea trolleys so was thinking I might paint one of those and put some pretty oil cloth on the tray parts. I could wheel that in and out of the kitchen with my tea and crumpets all laid out nicely. ;)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

I am watching a wicked item on Ebay at the moment that finishes tomorrow, am not giving too much away as I do not want to tempt fate :rotfl: :rotfl:

Will tell you all if I am successful, I have been after one at a reasonable price for years!!

Anyway, off to batten down the hatches because if you have read Metcheck you will see that us Devoners are in for a rough couple of days with storm force gales that are expected to cause serious damage and risk to life

Should I sell my greenhouse quickly???????

Feeling very inspired by the thread and itching to get going on a project! We have 2 ikea cupboards in pine that are looking a bit the worse for wear and I would like to paint them having seen what great results lots of you have got. It has got kind of inner panels, a couple of which have been broken, any ideas on what I could replace them with? I thought maybe fabric, but OH reckons it will accumulate dust (true!). Other things I thought of are maybe some sort of mdf panel like you get from Jali, but this looks a bit expensive. Anyone got any ideas please?

PS CTC your kitchen looks amazing - well done!

I am struggling to get hold of a wicker shopping basket.
Ideally I want a large one with a flat bottom, which is nice and sturdy, but no "real" shops seem to sell them and any on line ones seem to be very expensive.
my local farm shop sells some lovely baskets, do you want me to have a look for you next time I'm there?

Thank you Vivaladiva & Haribo, I could not remember the maker's name of the measuring cone. :j I want one now!

I was in Dunelm yesterday and as I bought beautiful pink rosy fabric (a Sanderson linen lookalike)to cover our chairs + ottoman once I have F&B'd the frames AND bought new cream curtains I am not sure OH will eant to go near the place for a while.

Shall have to 'persuade' my mother to take me!

I bought ready made curtains (OK, they are unlined) because it was actually cheaper to do so - now I can save my energy for all that sanding and painting!
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • CTC bet everyone else is banned from the the kitchen now!! It looks great I bet you are inspired to cook allsorts...Like the cloth on the cooker hood great idea.
    simplicity is key

  • I find all my wicker baskets in junk/antique shops rather than charity shops, they don't seem to come up too often. I usually set myself a budget of £8 but I will pay £10 if its a special one.
