nomoney i haven't any room for a dresser even though i have been watching some on ebay. I compromised and am going to put this on the wall between 2 cupboards and above the worksurface. Just won it on ebay, still waiting for the seller to contact me though. The buy it now was £75 so i got a bargain. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=260213920479&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=016

then this is my boiler, it was moved from the kitchen to the dining room in a recent extension build, due to health and safety the flume had to be a set distance from the outside, but it looked ugly and boring. so i decorated it!! what you do think?

Triage... I can remember in '50s when people used tea chests as a playpen for babies....not very roomy, but very OS as at that time they were available free! Another common thing was that newlyweds with little or no money would get hold of butter boxes...in a time when butter came to shops in 56 lb boxes, paint them and make padded cushions for the lid, to be used as seats.

I suppose not very shabby chic, but certainly money saving.

Love that dresser in Taunton, but a little far from me for collection, I'm afraid.

Please could anyone advise on a white paint colour to go over magnolia. In true OS I am keeping the present paper on (soft gold) the one wall as it still looks good.I know there are different whites in the Farrow & Ball collection or Dulux but I need help. I don't mind paying a bit more as I have saved a fortune by cleaning the soft furnishings myself and resisted any new purchases.I thought a white would be a change?

Sorry I cant help with the choice of white, but there are a couple of farrow and ball experts on this thread, they may be along soon and be able to help out. There was a recent post about sending off for the new F&B colour chart http://www.farrow-ball.com/ and click on the link bottom right.

The only other suggestion I could make is to get some tester pots (dulux etc) and try close to the gold wall. Good luck and let us know what colour you decide on.;)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

HI Juliettet self confessed F&B addict here...first things I would say about the paint cost is that Farrow & Ball are the only paint to use Pigments rather than dyes. This is why you get such depth of colours and they handle beautifully so its not just about how many coats or the colour range and its what make them brilliant for old damp wall as they allow the walls to breathe.
As for whites...well definately go for a colour swatch and then its up to you where you want to go from there. The ones I have used in the past in quite a dark house are
    James white
    dimity
    slipper satin
    clunch....these all have a creamy/yellow tone

    my all time favourites are

    great white - pinky tone
blackend - can be a bit cold, blueish tone
cornforth white my absolute fav at the moment & great for a backdrop for all things floral....quite a greyish taupe....

There is a new colour card coming out on the 3rd of March if you go to the website you can get a copy sent to you.

hope this helps and if you search the site for your nearest stockist they usually have big colour swatches and are often interior design shops who are really happy to give you advice/guidance...Good Luck Rx
