juliettet someone on this thread recommended 'Soft White' By Crown the other day. Might be worth a look ?

ooh that was me :rotfl: finally I've managed a good tip lol

If you have a crown shop near you (we have one in Plymouth) they can mix up any colour with any finish IYKWIM. They do a wipeable (is that a word?) heavy duty MATT finish, so shabby chic! It works very well as my friend has her kitchen painted in this stuff (baby blue) and she had an accident with an exploding evaporated milk tin (long story) she had caramel type goo dripping down her walls and we managed to scub it all off and the paint still looked perfect! As I said before I'm going to paint my whole house in this stuff lol with 2 boys I have to be careful not to go OTT with shabby chic and it needs to be heavy duty.....

Triage love your blog, you've made a really good start. I am seriously thinking about going to Totnes tomorrow to bargain hunt..... I need to buy something pretty.......

On another note I had all my hair chopped off today... There is a very posh salon where I live and on Friday mornings they need models to practice on and you get your hair cut free. PM me if you are in Devon and want to know more. It usually costs £30+ for a hair cut..... So I've gone from having very long SHABBY hair to a very short CHIC posh spice type bob.... It took the poor girl 2 hours and I LOVE IT she was very pleased with herself aswell. I did give her £10 but it was well worth it!

I know I was slightly off topic but this thread is so friendly I just had to share it with you all.... :D

stas4949 sorry I didn't give you the credit for the Crown paint colour. I finally unearthed my Crown Paint chart just now and I couldn't see Soft White. Is it called Soft Linen ? Maybe my chart is out of date

We used the Dulux one coat Egyptian Cotton in my daughters room and it really did only take one coat.It was over four different colours aswell orange, yellow, blue and green. We were very impressed so used it again in the playroom. This time it did need 2 coats but the walls were very dark mulberry to start with. It's not actually that more expensive anyway so if your walls aren't too dark I would recommend it.

Did they have one of each colour on each wall? The person who lived in our house, in the 1950s must have been very patriotic, he painted the inside all red, white and blue  GLOSS.

I love this shabby chic thread . I havent got a dresser . I have got a sideboard that has been painted in eggshell paint and has turned out rather nice. I put nice handles on it and popped a heart on the handle. Dressers and sideboards do come up quite cheaply on ebay if you get them local(not all the time though!, sometimes they shoot up on ebay!

  • Im starting to get into this 'shabby chic' style!

Seen as though i cant get a dresser or have wall shelves like everyone seems to be getting....jealous ...me....never!

ive decided to do my kitchen instead. Just bought some of that sticky fablon stuff in kind of a light wood effect iykwim to cover my grey worktops and bought some pine cupboard knobs off ebay to match, ive got lots of pink things and bits to go in kitchen so it gonna look really country/shabby chic type... hopefully! :rotfl:

Yep each wall a different colour and then a sky blue ceiling! It wasn't as bad as it sounds and it was a kids bedroom. But I don't know what their excuse was for the rest of the house! It was all very oddly decorated.

    Triage999,

I think I can see a very gorgeous shower curtain in your bathroom pics! Do you mind me asking where you got it from and have you any closer up pictures?!!!

    Many thanks

Ahh my shower curtain! I got it from the best shop ever, unfortunately it is in the states and is called Bed Bath & Beyond! http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/nodePage.asp?order_num=-1&RN=9

I could have spent a fortune in there!

It has lovely vintage french pictures of mannequins, shoes and hat boxes all over it and is called window shopping.

I have to agree about Bed Bath & Beyond. I lived in the US for a couple of years and thought that it was a fantastic shop.

If anyone is going to the States I would suggest that it is well worth the visit....... just make sure that you have plenty of space in your case :rotfl:
