Before we bought our dining table in the 70s, we used to sit on our bed in our flat and eat off the ironing board, fortunately not for long. I remember the decor in there, called retro now  awful! We still have the table, could not bear to throw it out after it served 35 years long service. It is in the garage.0

Just realised we are beginning to sound like the "Four Yorkshiremen" sketch on Monty Python. Perhaps only the menopausal ones will remember that one;)
Anyway back to Shabby chic, NE Girl, that is a lovely dresser, what is it about them that so draws us.0 -
Maypole is that the sketch where one of them says ' When I were a lad we were so poor we lived in a cardboard box ' ? Then they all try to outdo him ? Ooh am I going to get told off for going off topic ? :rolleyes:Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

More smacked handies are on there way tee heeeeee.
Anyway.............Tea chests are here! One is taller than the other which is perfect as they will look great next to each other! The writing on them is fab and they have the dates 1971
I am now thinking of doing hinged lids as part of the stools as I can then store stuff in them like wellies, dog leads and umbrellas as they are going to be in the hall.
I think the tops will look just perfect in Tea Stained Calico or Hessian, I might even use an old linen sheet that I have in the cupboard actually, I was going to embroider some monograms onto them too to give them a vintage French style theme, but we will see if I get round to that bit.
As for my fleamarket finds here they are..........
This blue and white patchwork quilt was £5.00, my room is country style blues and whites so it ties in nicely!
This little wee willie winkie style metal candle holder was £3.00, I could not resist it for my bathroom though!0 -
ooh that candle holder is beautiful and that throw must be huge as it really makes the candle holder look tiny!! Bargains!!Win £2012 in 2012 challenge 0/2012

I could not resist a few more photos! I am still in the midst of shabbying my house
My Bathroom is getting there slowly, I am trying to make it look like a vintage french powder room eventually! There is still quite a bit to do such as making a curtain for the open shelving etc! We inherited the bathroom suite which is a peachy colour so try and make do with it what we can.
Next is our bedroom, small but comfortable, there is still quite a bi to do in here also, after I took this photo I went haring upstairs as it look like ripped wallpaper near my lamp, but to my relief it was the reflection of the mirror lying on the bed :rotfl:
You can see the size of the new quilt now, Our bed is Super kingsize lol, the dresses that are hung either side of the windows were my 2 daughters first ever dresses, they are hung on Laura Ashley padded hangers
This will be the last room to do as we are getting it extended! the kitchen, not what I want but practical, clean and homely!0 -
The great thing about a big, shabby, oversized sofa!0
