Nappy advice

Hev, how old is your baby and also are they breast fed or bottle fed? Young breast fed babies tend to have runnier poo which can leak, although i found the bambino mio wraps with gussets enough to keep the poo in. Or is it the wee that is leaking? This is called wicking and happens when the nappy is too wet. To stop this you can chance the prefold more often or try to add more absorbency with a booster of some kind. Also do you have a bucket with a lid for your nappies? The lid should keep the nasty smells in the bucket. Some people have been known to put *ahem* a sanitary pad stuck to the lid with lavender oil dropped on it to create a more pleasant smell lol. Not tried it myself, but dont see why it wouldnt work
Agutka - they may seem pricey but remember that if you are using shaped nappies you should only need 3-4 wraps and they can be sold on after you are done with them to recoup some of the money spentThere are plenty of other wraps though, i love nature babies.

LilMissEmmylou - DS is now 7 months old and the problem was wee leaking out of the nappy. The nappy bucket had a lid and had tea tree oil in it (still using it to soak reusable wipes before washing). I would pick him up and there would be a damp patch on his back or front, or sometimes down one side and of course the playgym/cot/moses basket would be wet too. Now he is more adventurous and the playgym is no longer somewhere I put him but starting blocks, I am worried about getting wee into the carpet. The playpen also has a padded floor that would get full of wee.
I was always careful to tuck all the nappy inside the wrap, and I changed as frequently as I spotted him needing a change. I am going to try going up to a larger size prefold and see if that helps.Always another chapter0 -
I have finished buying the nappy collection for my dd, baby due in two weeks. I have got a good assortment for her with a view to re-selling any she doesn`t want to use. I`ll post the list now
10 bamboozles
4 bimbles
7 bumbles
1 tots bots cotton
2 little lamb
2 motherease
12 terries and 12 left in package maybe for dd number 2??
12 bambino mio size 1 plus wraps
12 bambino mio size 2 plus wraps
med wraps
small wraps
boosters
fleece liners
flushable liners
net bag
wet bag
re-usable wipes
3 wool soakers
4 wool longies
1 fleece wrap
nippas
wraps and wool soakers and longies are various sizes
I have ordered a hand made sack and I`ll be presenting my dd with all she needs for the first few months, while I hang onto the bumbles etc or she`ll get totally overwhelmed
Almost all the nappies are second hand and cheaper and I have washed everything in a little ecover. I had great results on some bimbles which were `flat` and a bit grey and smelt strongly of washing powder. I have got them white, they smell of nothing and they are much fluffier
I have dried everything on an airer on a sunny patio and drying times have been interesting. All in all the terries (harringtons new but old package) dried the quickest and are the most versatile re serving their purpose. I also like the bimbles and bumbles because of the built in fleece and pocket for boosters. The little lambs are very very cute
next stop: knitting but proper little boy stuff and already got the wool ordered ie rust, chocolate, stone0 -
Hey all,
Im also a terry addict, but i sourced them cheaply.
I have some Cotton Bottoms actually full set in all sizes i got these in boots when tomme tippee were changing there logo and picked up starter packs at £5.00 each always worth looking in Boots Clearance as they sometimes have more They are £18 from Tomme Tippe which is very reasonable compared to most Re Useables

Also i bought some fleece wraps from a lady on ebay very reasonable and funky ebay id ann1361 i think, these are all home made and are fantastic!!!
If you go to your local poundworld atm they have Cotton bottom Wrap for a £1 always handy!
Some times on the little lambs website they do a free nappy now and again for a SAE i must admit i did get a couple sent to a couple off address! :S i know so topped up with the £1 wraps! BARGAIN
I do have a few Bamboozles they are lovely but expensive and now ebay are not letting people list Used nappies it is a little harder to source
I must admit i haven't used Terry's! I would like to have a nice set real thick ones where did you get your harringtons???
This excites me xxDFW Nerd #awaiting number - Proud to be dealing with my debts!

ebay for the terries but I was lucky
A lot of the nappies arrived today. It was exciting seeing their condition, which is v good and some excellent. I`ve washed them all twice in ecover with dolly balls and they are drying.
I`m also getting excited re making wool wraps. I am a really good knitter and I`ve ordered pure merino wool and lanolin. I`ll make a few patterns up and bottoms away!!0 -
and I`ve ordered some nappy pins. I don`t like the nippa thingies. Anyway I never had any pinning accidents while nappying my three. I`m confident using them
When I think how my mother taught me to use a nappy pin on my younger siblings, 54 years ago. I was the oldest girl of 7 so learnt a lot the practical way, from about the age of 6 which was really `grown up` then. That`s why I have to smile at all the new stuff about baby care but then again baby care has just (tongue in cheek) been invented. Rather I supose it is about making vulnerable new mums fork out hard cash0 -
Kittie im envious! I wish i could knit lol, i just have to buy my items
. and wow thats a heck of a lot of different types of nappies your getting to play with hehe! I wish my mum was so clued up and could have helped me pick all that! :A
Lolly £1 for a wrap!!! OMG Ive been selling my 2nd hand cotton bottoms for more than that lol, madness! and if you want terries you need to be trying the bamboo ones mmmmmmm so so so soft!!!!
Hev can imagine its a pain having wet patches all over the show. Fingers crossed the next size up in the prefolds will do the trick and if not i say get some micro fiber boosters to hide in the middle of the prefolds - they are fab!
all pleased i helped another convert today. A lady who lives in france and is on holiday - apparently cloth nappies arent really sold in france which is a shame. She got lots of lovely nappy nation, some prefolds and a few terries, so she seems game to try every type that will dry quickly :T always nice to see people use terries if you ask me0 -
a very useful site, comparing costs, fit etc

pha, i dont like blooming bottoms lol i got some of my nappies from them.... in the end. They got my order wrong twice and refused to believe their old site sold pre loved prefolds for less than brand new price, but not they sell them at the same price as brand new! wheres the logic in that i ask? lol but rant over. I tend to look at somewhere like twinkleontheweb to do price comparisons and read reviews are you from NI kittie?0
