They look beautiful. I didn’t realise you could get cotton yarn in so many colours, is it just any cotton or do you buy a particular sort?Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0

Their are some fabulous colours of cotton out there. Hobbii in Denmark (mail order) has some terrific ranges, and no to pricy.
OK, knitters, here's my question for today. Those of you who have completed a mitre square blanket, how did you edge it? Mine is at 14 x 14 right now and the other half has decided he wants it for a car blanket but has asked for an edge. I've heard of people doing a single crochet edging but has anyone any other ideas. I had thought of blanket stich seaming it?

I wasn’t going to edge my mitre square blanket but I do like the idea of a colourful blanket stitch around the edge.Making magic with fabricLight travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.1

I've been knitting on and off for about 10 years - mostly mittens and hats, and a couple of baby cardigans. This year I am working on my first ever jumper! Always been put off previously by the cost of materials but I have gone for a cotton merino blend and the jumper will be a cropped style with a multi-coloured chevron pattern. Finished the body, halfway through the first sleeve. Hopefully not too much longer
Also hello everybody!

Welcome @baboushkat
The jumper sounds interesting! Hope you'll be able to share a photo when its complete. How are you finding it so far?
I finally finished my long scarf by adding the tassels and forgoing the pockets. I'm a tiny bit in love with it and cant wait for the right weather to wear it LOL After finishing the dolly blanket for my friend, I also now have no current WIP! Shocking!!!

Hello @baboushkat. Welcome to the thread. Your jumper sounds interesting. Who is the pattern by?
I hear you re the cost of good yarn but given the hours we put in to make a jumper, it’s worth it. My favourite source of discounted yarn is Black Sheep. Deramores is also very good. It is possible to knit a jumper in good yarn for about £20 if you stick to plain coloured, 4-ply sock yarn (usually 75% wool, 25% polyamide), but it will take longer than DK to knit up. (I’ve done it. I currently squirrel away £10/month for my Wool Fund, so that’s two month’s savings and 4 months of knitting.)

@PipneyJane Hi, thank you!
The pattern is Lightning Storm by Emily Manasc. Think I spent around £40 on the yarn for it, it's just Drops.
I did make a little knitted top called Camisole No. 2 by My Favourite Things in a fingering weight silk blend just before I started this one and I think getting that done gave me the push I needed to finally put the time in for a jumperPay off debts in 2020 (£306/£900)0 -
@baboushkat - this one? (Ravelry link) It’s beautiful. I look forward to seeing your finished photos.
Drops make good yarn. I’ve knitted one jumper in their Alpaca 4-ply and have more in the stash. (I say “knitted”. Still need to sew down the collar and finish the cuffs, after 3+ years. I hate finishing. Tonight’s job, while I’m waiting for my swatch to dry.).
