And a friend went to WonderWool Wales (virtually, of course) and ordered some skeins which were actually produced local to us (not in Wales) and therefore hand-delivered.Signature removed for peace of mind2 -
Having spent most of the past six months knitting baby clothes I have now started on a pair of socks for OH........was having trouble with the heel as couldn't remember how to do it......sorted it now though.

I looked last week. Deramores had not much at all. I looked last night and they had plenty. Hobbiecraft only had about 5 things everything else just said out of stock at the bottom. I was actually looking for some safety eyes. I looked at Deramores last night they have everything in stock now. I guess it all depends on their deliveries of stocks.I'm finding the same with Asda. They say things are out of stock but bring them on the day. I don't like shopping for food online. I don't know what I will need before my previous deliver. They send a reminder before your actual order arrives. It has to be in 4 days before delivery.0

I cant say I've had any difficulty in ordering yarn.
We have a local independent yarn shop (who sells a whole host of other stuff) who are able to deliver and I've placed two orders online since lockdown in earnest and they delivered about a day longer than usual, but aside from that no difference at all for me.
Perhaps it depends on whats being ordered, I generally loom with aran weight or above where my friend crochets with mostly DK.

My existing stash will keep me going for several years yet!
I have been knitting bunting, there is a fairly simple pattern on the Hobbycraft website. I did nine flags in red, white and blue for VE day. I am doing a further 3 in pale blue so that these can be swapped for the red to make suitable bunting for my little boy's birthday, and might do some in pink for variety (although I don't have a lot of pink wool and i'm not sure red, white and pink would look too good either, might have to get creative).
I'm also trying extending a pattern - I have a lovely jumper which I knitted in 3-6 months, 6 - 12 months and 12 - 18 months size, now I am trying to increase it to 2 - 3 year size. Other than there being a lot more knitting going into it (it's DK, now I understand why people use aran wool! but DK is what I have in) it seems to be going OK so far.
I tried knitting a jumper with 200g of aran wool I found in a charity shop. The pattern said it needed 150g but I had used more than half by the time I had finished the front and one arm, so I stopped and unravelled and will think of something else. It wasn't far short so it might work if I knit the cuffs in a different colour.1 -
I've seen a lot of patterns for jumpers with contrasting neck, welt, and cuffs. Can't say I like the colours chosen they all seem to clash. I have a lot of stash. I'm stash busting right now. Making a blanket I intend making it double bed size. I've bought a book with over 400 different stitch patterns in it. I won't be able to use all of them because some of the complicated cables are too big. I am now finding some of the patterns are too complicated for me to just knit while watching TV. You don't get time to learn it with one small square. You could always knit a hat and mittens with the aran wool. You will find lots of hats for free on this site.https:knittinghelp.comI do have plans on knitting an aran cardigan but I've been working with small needles for months. I used some 4s the other day and they feel like pokers.0

PipneyJane. Your current knitting is lovely.
I haven't anything on the needles at present because Im concentrating on getting a nursery sampler (X stich) finished for my new dgs. I think I much prefer knitting though!!I
I keep looking at top down jumpers but cant make my up, I'd love a colour work one but as Ive not done any before I'll start with a simpler one I think!!! Oh and I ordered some cotton for dishcloths and it came quickly from hobbycraf@, and then I crocheted a string like bag with it, the pattern was fine but it needs to be a bit bigger if I want to carry some veggies in it, so will have another go, I was thinking of making a few for small 'C' pressies.

Nanny g I agree while we have no choice but to stay home is the ideal time to be knitting Christmas presents. We have the added benefit if we are on our own of being guaranteed no one will catch us kitting their present. I have had to throw my knitting under my desk or the coffee table and then struggled to reach it.Now is also a good time to do a big project or tackle things you have not done before. Don't forget there are thousands of how to videos on you tube.3
