These are the knitted hearts:

And this is the first flower for the LYS. It's a bit of a fiddly pattern, knitted in one long misshapen strip then pulled together. They said you could leave the ends separate but I couldn't make it 'work' that way.

SavvySue - What does LYS mean and how can I get the pattern for the hearts? I'm not a member of Facebook or any other social media so I could not look at your peace project. I don't want to belong to Facebook either. I prefer my flowers in individual petals that way and can make as many as I want and alter the sizes to put in more layers. I tend to do a lot of my knitting rather like my cooking. I read the pattern, book or recipe then do my own variation. I almost always make some changes to toy patterns because they are mostly sold for charity so need to change because of copyright.

Local Yarn Shop - I had to ask myself not long ago.
The hearts pattern is here (Ravelry). If knitting for your local hospital, we have to send them in in sealed bags, like a freezer bag, with the date they were knitted (or I put the date the bag was sealed!) for infection control purposes.
I am sure Ravelry would have flower patterns too. I still have various poppy patterns from a couple of years ago, and some of them were knitting individual petals.Signature removed for peace of mind2 -
Thank you Sue I should have realised it was Local Yarn Shop. Mine is very old fashioned and has yarn from companies I've never heard of. They sell an awful lot of cheap yarns that will not hold up to even one wash. I ordered a pattern from Deramoresa couple of weeks ago when I ordered safety eyes. I put my birthday cards in the recycling yesterday. I kept the the one from my DD because it had little plastic jewels on an owl. I take the plastic bit off for my DGS who loves them for decorating cards. I thought I'd love an owl. for my blanket. The pattern is a collection of hats, booties, mittens, and a head band. I can use left over yarn too for these too. One of the hats has an owl, I'm delighted. Two of the booties have flowers on and so does the head band.4

Hi everyone, Thought Id write a quick post as Im off to cook tea! I love knitting (and sewing) and have been making hearts for charity as well, but I crocheted them, I found them easier and quicker and as Im not a proficient at crocheting I was quite impressed with myself lol!! I have been knitting pairs of socks, as anything else that requires a lot of concentration seems to be going over my head at the moment. I want to try knitting a jumper from the top down, I have a pattern but haven't ordered the wool yet as I don't think my concentration could cope with it at the moment!. Is anyone else like me? Anyway off to cook my tea and then get back to my socks (pair number three in the past couple of weeks!!)

@Savvy_Sue, those hearts are beautiful.
@nannygladys, I had a couple of weeks where anything that required concentration was just too much. I’m now back in the swing of things. It helps that my latest project is knitted from charts, so I just have to track where I am - highlighter tape is wonderful - and don’t have to focus on keeping my place in a written pattern. This is my latest jumper:-
It’s the Caradon Hill Jumper from Blacker Designs, which is knitted in the round to the armholes. Five rows out of six, it’s pretty mindless. I started it at Easter and have another 50-ish rounds to go before I even think about the armholes.
What is everyone else working on?

I think we may have to wait a long time for any yarn we need the suppliers are getting very low. They seem to have only slight variations on beige, white and greys.

They MUST be sent in sealed bags, eg freezer bags, with the date of making on them, for infection control purposes. I have put several pairs in each bag with a note to say when the bag was sealed. Crochet, knitted, fabric - all welcome, but they do need to be matched pairs.Signature removed for peace of mind2
