Hi- could someone put me in the right direction to save my sanity please!
I am doing a Woman`s weekly pattern- dog jumper with cables and the pattern is in sets of 12 rows. I have done the first 12 but there have been two increases on Row 3.
The pattern says to continue in pattern but before there were three groups of cables of 4 stitches on each end and now there are two plus a third of six stitches. Even if I make a cable of cluster of the third group, the rest of the pattern seems wrong.
This is the row I should be doing:
P2,(c4f,p4) 3 times, k2, work 1st row of centre panel, k2, ( p4, c4f) 3 times p2.
By the way Plumduff your posts appear on this thread ten years ago!0 -
Hi Janb, I'm maybe not understanding but don't you just keep the cables the same and if you keep increasing you will eventually have enough to incorporate another cable, in the meantime keep the six stitches the same as the four stitches extra iyswim. I'm not very good at explaining - I'm sure someone else will be along soon.
I see that on the 1st October 2007 I did post about finishing a purple cardigan. I remember that cardigan but afraid it's been "Kon Marie'd" long ago. But I also see that Kittie posted on that same day 8 hours before me. Take a bow Kittie :rotfl:
Happy knitting xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

I was knitting a sparkly cardigan for five year old Grandaughter,a week before the deadline of the 25th I went down with a dreaded lurgy bug, never mind I thought once I started to feel better over Christmas week end, pick it up and get it done for New Year. Kept knitting away and sewed in the bit difficult set in sleeves, only too find they were miles too long and would have fitted a young giraffe.Couldnt face unpicking them so as there was no rib at bottom of the sleeve just garter stitch I managed to turn them up inside and stitch a hem, luckily it looks quite good so cardigan won't go to waste. In future I will measure measure and measure again!0

I still read along but rarely post now - have arthritis and can non longer knit. I've started crocheting, but it isn't the same.0

I've still got my beaded jumper on the go but have been trying to catch up on some cross stitch after putting it to one side to do a load of knitting before Christmas
Hope all are well
Ps re the dog coat I'd do the increase at each end of the rows do that there was a smal panel of non cabled at the join if that makes sense.SPC~12 ot 124

Hi thanks for your comments ladies! In desperation I found something online which shows how to do it so shall follow that. It means that the cables stay in situ but it shows you how to manage the rest of the stitches. I also emailed Womans Weekly( their pattern bought online) but they cant contact me until Monday)0 -
I had a think last night, I spent most of the day knitting, I had to frog afterlight and have caught up but why do we knit? Various good reasons, not least is the stress reducing factor. When I had children around, then I was always on my feet, when my husband was alive then it was similar but now I am able to sit all day, if I want and I am thinking that this is not good. Having waggling needles is not exercise and I need to incorporate exercise into my life. Knitting is not going to protect my health and neither is standing to do a bit of housework or cooking, I am talking winter as summer I do the allotment. Ok bullet is bitten and I have pumped up my bike tyres, half an hour will do nicely and then I can indulge in a whole afternoon of knitting or reading and if we get prolonged freeze or snow, then I can rebound on my rebounder on the landing. I hate forced exercise, very boring but cycling is the least boring
Craft room is still tidyam trying very hard to put things away when used
I have a yellow woolovers lambswool jumper with a polo neck, nice and warm but far too big, was obviously hubbies. Am trying a little semi felting this am. Washed gently but very warm with washing up liquid, then rinsed and now in washer on a wool cycle. We`ll see, I hope it tightens up a bit. They are good enough to keep warm in the house
Janb, is there a drawing of the pattern bits? or do you have an old dog coat to examine. Can you see curved bits on it? I would put increases at the ends also and just have cable as intact lengths around the middle, like mrs mp said0 -
kittie Not sitting all day is not the same as exercise. 4 half hour sessions a week of cycling sounds good for exercise.
What you need to do is stand up every hour. It is preferable to walk around the house a bit every hour.0
