I am sitting here totally scunnered
I knitted the back and part of the front of a chunky gilet, I didn't enjoy knitting it ( 100% acrylic which I never use) so ripped it out and started again. This time with 500g of pink double knitting which I doubled up and tension was fine. Looked and felt really great UNTILL I nearly finished the front and discovered I didn't have enough wool - the air was blue, just as well I was on my own :rotfl:
Anyway, I am now ripping the pink one back. Have you ever tried to rip back 2 strands of wool knitted together. It is horrendous and will probably take all afternoon.
So to calm down, I have True Entertainment on tv that is showing 3 western feel good movies this afternoon. I have seen them all before and did enjoy them. I'm sure there is even handknitted garments being worn :rotfl:

I hate ripping knitting but its worth it when something goes wrong. I have to sympathise, I did a lot of ripping the other day
Grey miserable day= going on the net when I needed a break= me buying more fibre to spinI don`t have any regrets though. I ordered a special custom blend from world of wool in approx the right proportions to give me a lovely drapey yarn ie approximately 55% 18 mic (superfine) merino, 30% viscose and 15% nylon, cost for 500g was just over £19, now that is one heck of a lot cheaper than the bought expensive yarn and I know I can spin it even and fine these days. Also bought 100g of silk hankies to dye with food colouring, by painting and warming gently. Never spun a silk hankie before but 100g will give me a lot of silk. Hey ho stash has just been added to
I am reducing for back armholes now and just finished my first ball of yarn. I could have done with watching those westerns plumduff, sky is awful grey and radio is very boring0 -
I think your experience is unusual, people are very good at answering questions and usually within minutes thanks to the worldwide membership.
I don't know where you posted your question but I searched the main boards especially 'Patterns' and 'Techniques' and can't see anyone asking questions about a dog jumper with cables. There are two groups for Woman's Weekly magazine and the question isn't there either.
I can only guess that maybe you asked your question in a group that is aimed at a different topic/magazine and that was why you didn't get a helpful response.
BTW is it this pattern? http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/dog-jumper-with-cables
Hi yes it is. It was a pretty unwelcome response but have sorted it now. I was told I must have the title wrong...0 -
The three westerns have now finished and I have also finished ripping out the pink knitting. About a third down the back I discovered a technique to ripping out double yarn. Thank goodness, as up to that point it was tangling every few rows and I was about demented with it. I know I'll forget this technique but it will not matter as I will NEVER knit doubled up yarn again !!! By the way, Patrick Duffy ( remember Dallas) was in one of the films. Grey hair but still quite a dish :j
I don't think I'll restart the gilet just now as I'm totally fed up with it. I always keep a full matinee baby set in pink and blue ready as presents. I've given these away in the last couple of weeks so I think a bit of baby knitting is called for. I have some lovely shades in King Cole Comfort dk, it's so soft and washes really well so I shall start knitting with that tonight.
After all the excitement of Xmas and New Year it's great to get back to normal. Happy knitting xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

I cannot recommend the site `loveknitting`. I just had to send two lots of expensive yarns back plus a pattern book written in japanese
The yarns were squashed into bags but worse than that, ordered 4 x silk/merino yarn and they sent me 2 x that plus 2 chunky wool in a similar colour. Also ordered 4 x expensive hand dyed yarn, 3 were matching shades and 4th was way out out of shade
Really appalled and will not order from them again, I don`t care what sales they have and whatever type of yarn. I get better from etsy or from kemps. Just warning you and getting a disappointment off my chest
Got to get back to being calm instead of mad0 -
I have saved my day
Just finished and filled a circular needle holder. Hemmed all around two long rectangles, joined together in horizontal cnannels. Marked needle sizes in permanent pen. Put a tab at the top and some tapes, so it is steady on a coat hanger. Hung it on a cup hook on the side of a tall bookcase in my craft room. I never realised I had so many circulars but have been using them for quite a few years. If I was starting from now then I would definitely go the interchangeable route, if I was keen on knitting that is. They will all start to lose that coiling tenseness that they get and be much easier to knit with. Checked them all and put a gauge in a pocket I put on the bottom. Looks like an alien. Really pleased with it0 -
Hi everyone, feeling a lot calmer now that I am knitting a lovely turquoise matinee jacket. I will also knit matching hat, mitts and bootees.
Today I am going to tackle my sewing room. It doesn't look too bad unless I'm in the middle of sewing a quilt when it looks like a bomb site . But every drawer and cupboard is choc o block and I have to pull everything out when looking for anything. So I am going to be decluttering a total of 11 drawers and a wardrobe. Oh... and also a linen basket and and a 12" gap between wardrobe and wall which is also stuffed full. Really hoping I can finish it today .

Blimey heck plumduff, that is an epic amount. Lol, I can see it now, piles and piles on the floor and on every available surface and spilling out into other rooms. Keep going plumduff, it gets bad and then it gets better
I am `thinking` of sewing cushion covers for summer but the word is `thinking` and it churns my stomach, all that work. You can`t beat cosy, sitting quiet in a chair knitting0
