HS, it is knit using tosh merino light, so I found that yarn and looked at it. It is a spun single so has that lumpy effect and is 100% merino, so will not be that strong. I have ordered yarn but 50: 50 wool and silk with the same sort of appearance. I went for equal or more yardage per 100g and also the same stitch number per 10cm. I took advantage of the loveknitting sale but from now, I have to sit firmly on my hands. I think I got equivalent in a stronger yarn with a good drape. Yarn is expensive these days, if it is a natural yarn
Got to go and knit faster, need to go fast enough to generate steam from the needles0 -

Well, I've not ripped back the gilet but have decided to knit the same gilet with different wool and a bit bigger. I did not enjoy knitting this at all and am thinking it's because of the wool. It was a kit I bought at the Hobbycraft Exhibition and the wool is 100% acrylic - I very seldom knit with pure acrylic, mostly mixes of wool, acrylic, cotton, silk etc. So I have taken some pink wool from my stash (polyamide, cotton and acrylic mix) and hoping I will finish this 😳. I hate not finishing things - always feel a bit of a failure giving up !!
Today I declutterd my storecupboard - I love decluttering and if I am every feeling a bit low this is what I do to cheer myself up. But today's decluttering was a necessity. This is a small cupboard ( 3ft wide x 1 ft deep from floor to ceiling) in the middle bedroom. This cupboard contains all my extra food and supplies as instructed on the prepping thread :rotfl:. It is a brilliant cupboard and whenever I run out of anything I know I have a spare upstairs.
No decluttering tomorrow, just a bit of cleaning and tidying for Hogmanay. Best wishes to everyone for 2017 and hopefully it will be a happy, healthy and productive year for all xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

I am having to improvise to finish iced cardigan, I did the spinning in two stages, so the second lot is thinner  I managed to scrape enough to get the body and sleeves done but the rib has to be done in the new lot. I put two threads together and the rib is looking nice, phew, such a versatile knit, the slightly thicker rib all around is nice and cosy.
I was thinking that this is a pretty good way to change a yarn a bit, one that might not be that nice on its own. I may well use that method to make cushions and have even found a book in my stash which has footstools etc. `knits at home` Might be a good way of using homespun stash, the beginning lumpy yarn and I have lots, could crochet it loose and thick and then machine felt, to eventually cut out for rugs or pouffes
I need two scrummy buttons. Where on earth can I get unusual buttons? they will make the iced cardigan as I have made it in sheep colour
Does anyone else sleep better after knitting all day? Got up looking forward to knitting, a treat and not a chore
and a very very happy hogmanay and hoping that 2017 is a good year, maybe even peaceful0 -
Thank god 2016 is leaving, it was not a good year for me. Glad to see Hogmanay but this year the usual house clean will have to wait until spring as I've barely got the strength to get out of bed. A Guid New Year to all knitters and Happy Knitting through 2017!0

Right there with you, mardatha. I got out of bed long enough to shower and am now back in it.
Not the way I'd choose to spend a Saturday, but at least I have my knitting with me!
Hoping everyone has a better 2017 than 2016.0 -
The money off offer at loveknitting finishes at midnight today, it even comes off sale prices
omg the new yarn came from them just now, it is absolutely stunning, very pricey but has a long yardage, is natural and so what, I will keep eating beans and oats. It is called mini maiden and is just right for that lacey cardi, a single ply like the recommended yarn. It has a lovely drape and lustre, even in the hank and is very much nicer than in the photo. Wow I am loving it. I got sea oak. Doing my best not to look at that site againand I know I will use every inch of that yarn, small lacey shawl, fingerless gloves for next years presents
oh no, couldn`t help browsing it again and found noro, hanabataki. Help!! I think I am addicted to lovely yarn0 -
That yarn looks lovely, kittie.
I've got so many coupons for lovely yarn but I'm trying to resist. Just bought a bit pre-Christmas so I don't need any yarn, and there will always be another sale.... (harder to resist the OOAK/hand dyed stuff as I know that exact yarn won't be available again)0 -
I can resist easily lol I'm not paying that kind of money for wool, however nice it is! *skinflint Mard* LOL0

Happy New Year to all fellow knitters!
2016 wasn't all that bad for me, it just went downhill from mid October onwards. Next year will be brilliant.
I 'sold' my house within 2 days of putting it on the market the Tuesday before Christmas. Going to view some properties to buy next Saturday. I only need 2 bedrooms really, but 3 would be handy (and somewhere to store my wool stash)
Daughter and lovely son-in-law just nipped over with their dog - a little chihuaha.sp? they want a couple of knitted coats for him so have taken his measurements. i've got masses of yarn I can make him things with.
...Still going to check out the loveknitting sale though LOL.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0
