Mine have to get bashed by my feet and legs poor things. They are all squashed under my desk. It's the biggest space in the flat. They keep escaping.
Katzen You were right I watched Ordinary Lies last year. I have watched the first episode. I bought some wool to do some cable hats and it was far too thin when it was still too loose on size 3 1/4 I thought I had better double it up. I keep knitting into just one piece of the yarn. I had done it two stitches next to one another so I had to pull it back.
I am much better with something that doesn't need a lot of concentration when doing this. I think I have got going with it now. Always takes me a few weeks to get knitting again if I go away having finished everything.0 -
Katzen I am sure mardather would love them to do that especially the expensive stuff.
38 more pieces:eek: I'm glad I managed to get a new Gruffalo for my DGS in a charity shop. He loved it. I don't like sewing up that much.
Now soft toys in a 3 year old's bed! They are squashed!0 -
I Loathe sewing up too, yet it can make the difference between an ok finish and a fabulous finish.
I've just made a Beatrix Potter tea cosy. I saw the pattern on Facebook. I've a friend who is BP bonkers and will love it.
I've got to go and find a box to put it in now since I have to post it. Her head and ears will get squashed if I don't!
so back to the baby cardi's and hitchhiker now.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
I don't mind sewing up, and would far far rather knit flat and sew seams than knit on circs, they drive me mad. Well madder.0

As far as my DH is concerned my stash does breed. I certainly don't spend obscene amounts of money on yarn. Not ever :A
I have to say, I didn't choose this pattern, my mum bought me a kit and once I start I do like to finish.
Mardatha I am the total opposite, would much rather knit in the round if at all possible. If i was a bit more experienced I think I could've knit a lot of these bits in the round but they would still need sewing together.Mortgage Outstanding Nov '16 £142,772.75Mortgage Additional OPs 2017 Target £4522.80/ Actual £865.00GC Feb 0/£2000 -
Yes maggie it came today! And you were right re how fast it knits up, I'm almost at the shoulder on the left front already!
Katzen I think it all depends on how you learned - I learned many years ago from a Shetland neighbour who used really long DPNS and tucked one under her armpit. I have tried other ways through the years but never got on well with them.0 -
Well you had better order some of that Icelandic stuff then. I'm surprised you don't have a stash like the rest of us. Mine is mainly bought either at charity shops or in a sale.
I sometimes buy a bag of oddments in a charity shop or like last June I bought some lovely bright red wool in Oxfam 3 balls for £1. I knew there was plenty to make a jumper for my GDS may even stretch to one for me if I make the sleeves 3/4 length.
I even bought two 300gm balls of Aran without their labels for half price because I am sure they are the same dye lot. Had them 2 years not found a pattern I want to knit with it yet. I have it in mind for a present for someone.0 -
You're completely right mardatha, I crocheted first and then was bought a set of circs when I started and that was me. I even knit flat stuff on them. Couldn't get on with standard ' English' method that mum does, then I found continental style and I was away.
Going to knit some knobbly knees now, to go with my turned out toes.Mortgage Outstanding Nov '16 £142,772.75Mortgage Additional OPs 2017 Target £4522.80/ Actual £865.00GC Feb 0/£2000 -
The pattern is American and has a few rows with "wrap & turn" at the top of the shoulder. I found a video on youtube and did it but didn't like it, it's not tidy looking and I don't know what that is for- does anybody else know?0
