Not enough hours in the day is better than unending long dreary days isn't it
Had enough of them to last me lol. I'm the same, hats for 3 menfolk, scarf for 1, and a waistcoat and hitchiker for me. Smoke coming off the needles lol

whats a hitchhiker? apart from a dubious person on the roadside youd not want in your car?
my short sleeved top is on hold at the mo, handy as its not the weather for it, too busy knitting hot water bottle covers for crimble. I got so carried away watching murder while knitting the last one it ended up about 8 inches too long and had to unravel it0 -

smokin needles aint half of it. I just finished bootees, more trouble than socks btw so now have a full set of matinee top, baby cardi, hat and bootees, all sewn up and ready to pack. That will do. I did buy another 3 balls in different shades and made a hat but it looks a bit girlie and don`t know what the other niece is having yet. Rather nice to knit with so I feel like cracking on with it, to avoid yet another stash mountain. Think I will make a cardi/jumper for a slender 6 year old gd. Those sparkly buttons are very nice btw, they set the tops off beautifully. I have one ball of the first yarn left, it will make a top and hat for either gender baby. I over estimated0

Good morning everyone, I arrived home from my holiday on Sunday but had loads to do and also have a stinking head cold so this is my first post after my holiday.
I had a great holiday and the highlight was the "Knautical Knitters Group" which ran every day we were at sea. It was to be held in a small side room but with between 35 and 40 people attending each day the class was moved to one of the dining rooms. It was brilliant - knitters from the UK and USA and also some from Europe. Most were knitting but there were a couple of crocheters and cross stitchers.
There was an American lady in the group who wore a beautiful green flecked knitted scarf and believe it or not it was actually a hitchhiker scarf. After close inspection I've bought the pattern from Ravelry and that will be my first project after Xmas.
The other highlight was finding a wool shop in Orlando - it was fantastic and I bought some patterns. I saw beautiful wool to knit the hitchhiker scarf but at 40$ for a ball it was just too expensive so advice needed on where to buy the wool online here.
I've just to finish sewing up grandsons reindeer jumper which I did for the Christmas Challenge - picture to follow. I've also finished snowman mittens for granddaughter and started a Star Wars beanie for oldest grandson last night that has to be finished for Monday morning so as usual I'm busy.
It was fantastic being with so many like minded folks xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

I get my wool on Etsy for the hitchhikers plumduff, it's a great pattern that shows off multicoloured and plain wool. Love the idea of sitting round a table knitting on a cruise!0

Thanks Mardatha, I'll look into that.
The wool shop in Orlando were giving out flyers advertising a knitters cruise next October. I couldn't believe it - wouldn't that be a holiday in a lifetime 😀. They had block booked 200 cabins on a Royal Caribbean cruise leaving Orlando and had several knitting celebrities on board to give lessons and seminars. Unfortunately I can't afford this but WOW I am so envious and would have loved to have gone.
Maybe one day - dreaming doesn't cost anything xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

The famous mediums do that too now, Tony Stockwell and Gordon Smith - and James Van Praagh. I'd do one if I had the money. Also Wool Week in Shetland, my god I would love to go to that... sigh!0

Hello! I've been teaching myself to knit, very slowly, and can knit on straight needles, but only knit and purl, barely. Can you recommend any really basic knitting patterns for a baby using 5mm needles? Preferably just using knit stitches as purl stitches frustrate me. Im happy to learn other skills as I go but want my first to be simple and basic, so I feel as though I've achieved something - I'll be more likely to stick at it rather than going back to crochet. I appear to have lost my 4mm needles and I cant get to a shop for needles for a couple of days and would love to make a start on knitting some stuff as I'm expecting next July, and want to leave plenty of sewing and crocheting time, as well as time to decorate and get everything snug and cozy!
Thanks,
Em xx0
