I'm going slowly blind & mad here, knitting black wool while wearing a black tshirt and sitting on a black couch.....
  • ohh no, i thought navy blue was bad enough, blacks a nightmare
  • oh, black, very hard to knit. I am also knitting dark denim and have to have a break every few rows, makes me goggle eyed

I am knitting some baby clothes like mad and the yarn is an absolute delight to work with. Didn`t even bother with a tension square as it is baby, just went down a size of needle as normal. Acrylic/polyamide mix and machine washable. I am using random colours in dk but there are lovely plain colours on there. Yarn is rico sold by loveknitting, like that shop btw. Made one pretty top and two hats so far and almost finished a cardigan. Straightened my knitting very carefully as acrylic, just held steam above and patted with my fingers and left to dry. Works a treat, like magic. This knitting is amazing, I seem to start a piece in the evening and just stay up until finished eg a sleeve took a couple of comfy hours last night
  • did you see there amazing black friday deals yesturday?

i am using marriner yarns yarn today, only because there quick crochet hats that get lost so i went cheap and cheerful.

Hmmmm, so, at each row you knit/purl one fewer stitch. Then you Slip 1 at the end with the yarn where it already was, turn the work so the yarn is now on the opposite side,, slip the same stitch again, move the yarn, slip again than move the yarn so it ends up on the correct side to K/P as appropriate. As you go along, each stitch you slip has been slipped and wrapped on the previous row, hasn't it? What's the next instruction after you've knit all this bit?

    Here we go:

    R1 K11(k13,k15,k17)s1yb

Place remaining stitches on one needle

You will be working on one needle back and forth to shape the heel .Turn work.

    R2: S1yb,s1yf,p9(p11,p13, p15) s1yf turn

    R3 S1yf,s1yb,K8(k10,k12,k14) s1yb turn

    R5 s1yf,s1yb k6(k6,k10,k12,)s1yb turn

    row 6: s1yb,s1yf p3(p5,p7,p9)p11) s1yf turn
    row 7 s1yf,s1yb,k4(k6,k8,k10)s1yb turn

  • Thank you to any and all who mentioned the hitch-hiker pattern. 24 points in and I'm loving it. Using Manos del Uruguay wool and it is looking beautiful. And works up so quickly!

It is a lovely pattern, and so easy to wear.
I got my Lopi from Iceland, ordered it Sat night and it arrived here Sat morning. It's very very light and smells slightly different to ordinary wool. It's very nice to knit. And 4 balls (50g) of 100% wool cost me only a tenner including airmail from Iceland. If it wears and washes ok I will buy more. I never used to enjoy knitting anything thicker than 4ply, but the waistcoat for me in aran knitted up so fast it was a surprise. I have to do the bands round the sleeves on that and then it's done... but I got sidetracked into doing men's scarves & hats for xmas first.
Could I also mention since this is MSE - PurpleSheepYarns have been terrific! They sell only Drops, lovely wool from Norway. The aran cost me £1.50 a ball, Drops Alaska. I ordered Karisma for a scarf for the RV, that's also £1.50. All my orders arrived the next day - unheard of up here! I like Norwegian wool as it doesn't itch and is easy to wash.
  • Thanks Mar, bookmarked it. Looks like the stash is in danger or growing again

Got nice clear, two hole sparkly buttons from ebay. Arrived next day. Got 10 x 13mm so have some to spare. Last sleeve on needles now, then neckband and finishing. Am trying to be methodical and it has to be sewing next, a fleece dressing gown that is already cut out. Not enough hours in the day
