  • Hi everyone, I eventually blocked my waistcoat and it now fits. I have finished knitting dgs jumper and hat for Christmas. It is now sitting waiting for me to sew it up. I've just started knitting my mums annual Xmas Aran waistcoat. I think she would disown me if I didn't knit her waistcoat each year :rotfl:

My knitting class starts back this Thursday, looking forward to seeing what everyone's been doing.

    Happy knitting xx

That's really lovely Plumduff - you must be so pleased with it.

BTW how did you manage to post the photo here ? It's something I've never been able to work out !
  • Hi Jude, there was a post on MSE with instructions. This is my instructions but not as good as original - I think.
    Go on to tinypic.com
Choose file and select photo - takes a bit of time to download
There is a bit here that you have to add a code to show its not spam
Default size - choose message board size
Then there is a list and choose the one with IMG
    Then paste into your post

This is best I can remember just now. Let me know if it does not work and I will post another photo and write down instructions as I go.

I have sewn up dgs jumper for Xmas. I had knitted a jumper for dgd and the size is not right. The sleeves are too long and too wide so I have unpicked the sleeves, ripped back to about 6" and am now knitting them straight up to 11". Should finish the knitting THEN my favourite job - sewing them back in :rotfl:

    Happy knitting

Many thanks for the photo instructions - will save them and give it a go.

How infuriating to have to re-do the sleeves - and yes, sewing up is SO my favourite job as well ;)

I'm currently knitting a charity jumper for 'Knit for peace' which has the distinct advantage that as long as the size is roughly right, it's bound to fit some child !
  • I have to redo sleeves on my sweater as they're too tight in the upper arms. Then to decide on pockets and I should be done!
  • Hi, I had started knitting mums Xmas waistcoat but got a bit fed up half way up the back so decided to alter jumper for dgd. Isn't is funny how sometimes you just get fed up of knitting a specific thing :rotfl:

I'm going to treat myself to a Pom Pom maker like the one Kirsty Alsopp used in her programme - after years of making them with cardboard rings I thought I'd get all posh:rotfl:

Anybody think they're rubbish - tell me quickly and I'll save my £7 xx

Didn't see the program, but remember that I had a set of 3 (to make sm, m or L pom-poms) as a child - don't ask how long ago that was !!!. But they worked brilliantly and were easy to use.

The ones I had were not unlike these.
which are about half the price.

Well my pom pom maker was £1.20. There is a a knitting/haberdashery shop in our indoor market. Have you got anything like that plumduff? I found them very useful much easier to cut round.
  • Hi, thanks everyone - I will definitely buy a Pom Pom maker. I'm maybe going to Glasgow tomorrow ( if ddl and grandchildren don't come) and there is a Tiger shop there I could try.

Thirty odd years ago I lived in Heaton Park on the outskirts of Manchester. I used to love going to Bury market every Saturday morning. The wool and material stalls were brilliant. In fact, so we're the food stalls, sweetie stalls, clothing stalls etc etc

Where I live now there are no markets at all. There's a good car boot but you never know what you're going to find.

Still knitting the jumper for dgd. When I was unpicking the sleeve I unknowingly cut the front of the jumper. By the time I noticed it the stitches had unraveled. So, I've now had to unpick the shoulder seams, rip back the neck border and front down about 4". This is becoming a marathon

    Happy knitting everyone xx
