OK, so you have DK. Check what needles are suggested for the fun fur - often it is also DK, i.e. 4mm hook or needles.
So, your two yarns held together will be DK + DK = Aran. So look for patterns for Aran weight or worsted weight yarn... 4.5mm to 5.5mm needles/hook. Ravelry has thousands of great FREE patterns, for knitting and crochet, and the Advanced Search facility is brilliant. If you click the 'clothes' filter, then 'tops', you get the option to search for just T shirts.
In the left sidebar, you can click on the 'knitting' and/or 'crochet' filter, together with 'Aran' and 'worsted' weights of yarn, and loads of other filters if you want to narrow your search even further.
Hope this helps.Needs, NOT wants!

For baby things, choose acrylic baby yarn (easy-care for a knackered Mum!) in DK or 4ply. Sirdar Snuggly is the go-to yarn but any soft baby yarn should be OK. You might also choose 3ply or even 2ply, if you like finer yarns.
Some people use Merino wool or blends, in baby yarn - some are machine washable, but wool can irritate baby skin.
For your jumpers DK, (Acrylic, or wool blends) is all right for indoor winter woollies, or Aran weight if, like me, you don't have central heating. Chunky is great if you go walking or have outside activities. And 4ply sock wool (75% superwash wool, 25% nylon/poly*) for socks, or DK for wellie socks.
For baby blankets, again Acrylic is easy care and DK is good. This Rectangular Granny Blanket is very easy and adaptable for any size (I started a blanket for my double bed last week and it is 53" x 41" tonight.) And here is a nice stripey granny too. The first one starts with only a SHORT chain, although there are loads of websites that show the way to work a No Chain foundation row/round!Needs, NOT wants!

I am one of those knitters who are too excited to get my project going to ever check my tension/guage first. it has meant jumpers being 3x bigger than they should or they just end up looking really baggy and out of shape. I never have the type of wool that the pattern says so that doesn't help either. it is only now after knitting for many years that I have noticed the recommended needle size on the band of the wool. so for the first time I am checking and not doing well. my pattern calls for 5.5 mm needles and wool band says suitable for 4.5mm, not enough to make much difference or so I thought. but I carried on with the test square and am so glad I did. with 14 sts on 24 rows I should have had a 4'' square, however I ended up with a 2.5'' square. so what should I do now? use smaller or bigger needles or find a pattern using 4.5mm needles?0
