Oh, and my lovely DIL who volunteers in a charity shop bought me a load of balls of yarn, some lovely stuff for socks.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

    Brilliant! What luck!

I bought a load of Regia for sock presents and myself at a good price. However, I went 'up to the wire' knitting for my first grandchild and the only present I got finished in time to post was a tiny Santa hat for... my grandson!

Now I am spending Christmas knitting 3 prs of socks, 3 adult hats, 2 pairs of adult angora fingerless mitts and a pr of adult mohair arm warmers!

I had promised myself that I would not be in this position next Christmas and would start stashing knitted pressies from January 2014. Looks like I won't start stashing now till February!

Happy New Year Mrs Moneypenny too and to everyone else :)
I have knitted some wristwarmers with crocheted flower and button decoration. They are lovely I have to say.

Hi all, this seems like the best place to post my query looking for advice. For the past month or so I have wanted to start to learn knitting. But I literally know nothing. I have memories of both my nan and my mum knitting many years ago now, and who both aren't around anymore to ask, but I am sure I gave it a try.

Can anyone advise on where to start. I will do some searching for a video as I am sure I also read about a lady who has done some online training videos having learned from online as well.

I look forward to giving it a try soon.

    purple kitten welcome.
id look at youtube for tutorials or if you have a local friendly wool shop maybe the person there runs a knitting club or would help you get started. Also worth looking if you local library has a knitting group lots do where older experienced knitters gather and would be only too happy to share their knowledge with you.

  • Thanks Mrs Moneypenny I hadn't thought of those, thou I have to admit I would be a bit embarrassed at the moment knowing literally nothing:o

I am hoping when I start some of what my mum taught me will come flowing back...:o.
