    Hi all :j

Lovely makes Cuddles - love the bunting & the wristwarmers - do you have the pattern for those?

I'm sure everyone has been finishing up their projects - thanks to help on here I have made 3 pairs of wristwarmers, for putting in hampers. Only problem was that each pair took 1 ball - plus about one row of another ball. So instead of stash busting, I've increased the stash......doh!

LOL - they are actually leg warmers, but I can see why you thought they were wrist warmers!

I know they're very 80's, but I got some new ankle boots which were slightly higher than my old ones and for some reason my socks won't stay up when I'm wearing them, so I made these to tuck inside to stop chaffing on my legs.

Well I've been busy since the day after my last post... becoming a Granny!

Oscar was born last Friday evening!

I have a cute photo of him hours old, wearing the Nipple Hat that I knitted for him. How do I upload it here, please?

I know I'm cutting it a bit fine but was wondering whether anyone could help.

I'm looking to knit my 6 year old nephew a jumper or something along those lines. I want to use up some of my stash and am looking to knit it in Stylecraft Carousel DK. I have looked through my many copies of Let's Knit which doesn't seem to have a lot of patterns for boys and also on ravelry but because the tension is 20sts x 30 rows there doesn't seem to be much coming up and it isn't just giving me patterns for that tension either.

Does anyone have any or know of any nice patterns that I can use this wool for. I'm hoping I can get something knitted up within the week, which is why I said I know I'm cutting it fine.

    Thanks in advance.

Has anyone ever vacuum packed their stash?
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

The yarn is about DK. As long as you can get a tension of 20 sts, you can adjust the length slightly if necessary.

I would knit a V neck sleevless pullover - that would be pretty quick for a child. Should find a free basic pattern on Ravelry or Knitting Pattern Central.

I recently bought some eyelash yarn and it was posted vacuum packed. It was fine when I unpacked it, but it had only been packed for a few days.

As a spinner, I'm pretty certain that wool yarn (say, 50% +) would pack and store quite well, for months or even years. And most animal fibres should be OK. I'd be inclined to check it every few months to see how it's doing, until I was sure about really long-term storage.

I doubt that acrylic and other man-made yarns would stand up to vacuum packing for too long, without becoming permanently crushed.

You could ask on Ravelry - you're more likely to find somone who's tried it.

I discovered late last night that id made a mistake about 14 rows back in my Aran jumper, lay awake thinking about it and decuded I couldn't live with it, so managed to undo the iffending stiches and correct it all.

Very therapeutic, as my health priblems mean I stress out big time over things like this, and normally give up..

Well done on sorting out you mistake.

Although I don't have mental health issues - as far as I know, I do tend to be the same as you over errors or if my knitting 'doesn't look right'. Perfectionist or OCD? Who knows? I knitted and frogged a matinee jacket recently, three times before I got it right and it 'looked' right!

Another time I was knitting a cotton lace cardigan for one of my daughters' birthdays last year and could NOT get gauge with cotton DK, the recommended yarn - I even knitted half a dozen swatches. In the end I converted the pattern for 4ply and it turned out brilliantly.

Never give up. Every time you overcome a problem, you will feel empowered and more confident.

Wishing you a very happy festive holiday and a peaceful 2014.
