    Hi folks,

I want to knit a hat for a friend at work here. she's just been diagnosed with breast cancer and is about to undergo chemo.

I've bought some nice, soft Debbie Bliss yarn but can't find a nice pattern. I can knit and crochet so either would be nice.

does anyone have a good 'recipe' for one they wouldn't mind sharing please?

Last winter, I knitted two hats for a friend with the same health problem. After a bit of searching, I found some FREE suitable beanies on Ravelry.

Generally, the advice is to avoid wool because it can irritate the bald scalp. Good yarns are: cotton, bamboo, soft/baby acrylics or blends of vegetable and man-made fibres.

A ribbed/cabled pattern is good because it is less likely to slide about.

Light cotton hats/nightcaps are also appreciated for wearing in bed, helping newly bare heads to combat cool air or draughts.

Coincidentally, my friend came to visit me this morning. For her hats, she chose Barbie Pink - some people find bright colours lift their spirits!

She has made a very good recovery and I hope your friend does too. :)

    Good morning
I once saw on here a baby hat pattern. Someone put it up in a reply so that people could knit hats that went out to Africa. It was titled 8ply Baby Beanie Pattern

I have had a look on here and can't find it. And have managed to rip the piece of paper in half that I had the pattern on.

It starts Use size 5.00mm needles
And the first line is Cast on 64 stitches..

    can anyone help?
    thanks

Could this be it? There's a 4 ply one then an 8 ply one at the end.

Not that I'm trying to encourage stash adding but for anyone looking to buy some yarn I noticed Hobbycraft had a three for two when I was in there yesterday. Not sure if their yarn is a good price or not but just thought I'd mention it for anyone who's interested.

I finally finished all the knits for my first Grandbaby and now the postman is racing the baby - parcel due tomorrow; baby due Tuesday!

I'm not sure that I can post photos direct from my computer:question:

The pics of all but one item are in my projects on Rav - same username, if anyone would like a peek.

On with the Christmas knitting - I hate knitting against the clock!:(

Thanks yes this is the one. Though I did think that I had originally found it on a thread being done by people on an MSE thread.

But this is fine, and I had remembered most of it

    morning all

hope everyone is well, sounds like we are all busy.

i finished my 'christmas' jumper over the weekend. thank you to the person who suggested putting a band of rib around the armholes and setting the sleeves in, thats what ive done and it looks great (like the sleeves are meant to be contrasting)
