Place Marker ? A stitch marker so that you know whereabouts in the pattern you are. Just guessing, haven`t actually looked at the pattern yet.

Cuddles: Thanks for the pattern link. The slipper socks look super cosy - just what I need. And you can buy special anti-slip rubberised gunk, to apply to the sole.

Super bulky yarn can be quite expensive, especially if it is wool. It is possible to get round this and do some stashbusting by combining different weights of leftover yarns. For shuffling round the house, it doesn't even matter about the colour combinations  or having matching socks.

As a guide (because yarn weights sometimes vary a bit):

    2 x 4ply = DK
    2 x DK = Aran
    2 x Aran = Chunky/Bulk
    2 x Chunky = Super Chunky

So, in theory, around 16 strands of 4ply sockwool = Super Chunky. Actually, last Christmas, I used 2 x Aran for a Super Chunky cowl, and it came out the same size as the one I made to the same pattern, using commercial S Chunky. So, best to experiment a little with gauge/tension, and get as close as possible.

Edit: *Actually, the pattern says Chunky, but Ravelry categorises it as Super Bulky! So, only 8 strands of sockwool! :D

I hope some people will show us pics of any 'Heinz 57' house slipper socks that they make - could be fun! :rotfl:

    Hi there,
A few of us were wondering how we could get our MSE group on ravelry (http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/mse-ravelry/topics) a bit more active. I have posted in one of the threads with some ideas, I wonder if some of you could pop over and see if you like any of the suggestions, or have any other ideas. At the moment I was wondering about a new year KAL (knit-a-long), though it would not be strict rule-wise, just something to get us checking in a bit more and talking about our knitting. I realise folk will be busy this time of year, but it'd be appreciated if you have a spare 5 mins, just to take a look. Ravelry is free to join if you are not a member already, and it's a great resource.
    :)
