Just bytheby, www.knitandsew.co.uk are GREAT! VFM re their P&P charge:

I have just made my first purchase, & their P&P cost was only £1.57!!

It's SO (or should I say "sew" - groan!! :o ) nice to see a company that doesn't charge extortionate postage costs.

I was going to buy the items I wanted, when I saw the goods at Amazon, but when I saw the "www.knitandsew.co.uk" watermark on the Amazon photos of these items I thought I'd Google for the company to see if it was better VFM if I purchased direct. And it is of course. More so than even I expected! (Amazon always seem to charge over-the-odds :( for postage.)

    Yey! Bargain for me! :T

Does anyone here use a sock loom? Looks like a giant version of the cotton reel with 4 nails fir French knitting, how easy is it?
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

    Hi Orkney

I know you knit a lot for your little boy and have a feeling you've knitted him some hats before know. Would you mind letting me know whereabouts you got the patterns from as it's nice to see what you've made and what it looks like knitted up. I've looked at Ravelry but can't seem to find anything as nice as what you've made in the past.

    Thanks.

  • Thank you for this lovely thread; I have knitted for 25ish years but have had a big old hiatus for the past couple. I have a pair of socks for DH which just need the second cuff knitted and I'm hoping you'll encourage me into to getting them finished :)

If and when they're done, I have yarn and a pattern for a steeked Icelandic cardi which would keep me toasty this winter…

Apart from Rav, I do Image searches on Google for FREE KNIT BABY HAT PATTERN and come up with other patterns that are mainly in blogs. I avoid the ones on sites like Pinterest - many don't link to the pattern and waste your day looking for them!

I'm busy knitting (what seems like!) a complete wardrobe for my first Grandbaby and have found loads of cute to posh hats. My favourite is this Baby Viking Helmet. Very easy and quick to knit and will look great on a boy or girl. :rotfl:

Obviously SSS - Second Sock Syndrome. :(

I used to have several unfinished WIPs, (some, child-size garments for my oldest children, who are now 45 and 44!) are still unfinished in the loft.

Now, I won't allow myself to start a new project (usually!) until I have completely finished the current one. So, give yourself the incentive of starting the exciting next project
    - your lovely Icelandic.

Come on - a sock cuff will take no time at all!

  • Hi guys im new to this thread. Just finished knitting the body of a doll from a book called knitted toy tales and am going to sew up and stuff it tonight. As this is the first knitted toy I have made was wondering if anyone had any tips for sewing up, stuffing and adding details? I am going to be making 4 all together so if anyone has any tips would be very useful. Also I keep finding loads of patterns that I like which use either dpns or circular needles but I would like to try something simple with these before attempting something fancy. Any ideas?
