Hi guys does anyone know what the british equivalent of worsted weight wool is? Thanks
I don't think there is an exact equivalent but it is basically similar to an aran/10 ply weight, light worsted is more of a DK/8ply weight.

Can somebody please explain in extremely simple terms how I do the 'Knit 2 tog to end of row (10 sts) Next purl 2 tog (5 sts)'
I'm not sure if that means I started with 20 stitches and I cast off ten stitches first then I purl the rest off half way through the row?
I am a very basic knitter and looked on YouTube but nothing seemed to be clarifying what I want to know.
(on reverse side)
Stocking Stitch 7 rows (begin with purl row)
Next Knit 2 tog to end of row (10 sts)
Next Purl 2 tog (5 sts)
break yarn, thread through the 5 sts and sew up the seam.
Also the thread through the 5 stitches, what does that mean? How and where?
I'm totally clueless.Debt Free Date:10/09/2007 :j :money:0 -

Hi Hazzie123
This means instead of starting your Stocking Stitch as normal with a knit row, you start with a purl row. 1st row P, 2nd row K, 3rd row P and so on.
This means that all along the row from start to finish, you knit 2 stitches together. So if you start with 20 stitches, and knit 2 together all along the row, you end up with 10 stitches.
This means that all along the row you purl 2 stitches together. After finishing the previous row you will have 10 stitches and after you have purled 2 together you will be left with 5 stitches.
This means that you break off the yarn, leaving quite a long length and thread it through the 5 stitches you have left on your needle and pull them together before fastening off with a few stitches. It is easier if you thread the yarn through a darning/large eye sewing needle to do this. Then use the length of yarn to sew up the seam.
Hope this helps.0 -
