Hello fellow knitters, I don't post much on here but am subsribed! I'm wondering if you can help, I have knitted a baby shawl, for part of the border I did purl stitch (meant to be knit), it looks ok, but the only problem is that bit curls under, does anyone have any ideas how I could stop this? I won't be unpicking as only noticed once I had finished. Could I use a sewing stitch or something, i'm at a lose what to do
Thanks

Just after a bit of advice. Nearly finished knitting my 15 month grandson a stripey cardigan, it's done in 4 colours with each stripe approx 1 inch. How do I go about sewing the seams.....do I use all the loose ends and sew each stripe with the same colour wool, which is going to be time consuming (but I suppose they have to be sewn in anyway) or will I be able to use one colour to sew up the seams. Thanks for any advice you can give.
I hate sewing up and am usely half way through my next project before sewing up my last !!! But once completed it does make a big difference if the seams are well finished. Good luck.Debt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

Everhopeful,
I am sure that there is somebody more knowledgeable than me around, afraid that I would feel obliged to rip and redo....stocking stitch tends to 'roll' if on an edge..
Good luck,

Hi there
Have you tried 'stretching' the shawl? When I knit shawls I always wash them carefully afterwards. I then pin out flat, slightly stretching and leave until dry. I do the same if I wash a shawl. This helps to define the shape and pattern.
Hope this helps.:)0 -
I like to browse old patterns on this website:
http://www.theretroknittingcompany.co.uk/dollspatterns2.html
If you scroll down the page to the titles starting 'WW' there are lots of patterns for the dolls you remember.

:TWhat a fantastic link! I recognised quite a few patterns which I used when my daughter was young. Have saved to my favourites.:T0 -
Also loving that link - thank you.
I had an operation on my foot last week, so have had enforced knitting time :j
Have done the front and back of a Guernsey for my son in law and done my first 3 Needle Bind Off on the shoulders. Made and sewn in the neck gussets and now doing the first sleeve.:DJack of all trades ... Master of none

Thank you for the link to the vintage doll patterns. It just shows that everything's there on the internet if you just know where to look. I don't have my doll any more so I'll have to trawl eb and see if anyone is selling at the moment!0

Hi,
I have washed it once, but will do again and pin out flat, might work, its really annoying as right hear the beginning, only on eight rows but its all that patterned stitches in between that are the nightmare.
Fingers crossed it works!

Can you crochet ? If you did a crocheted scalloped edge, the weight would help it to lie flatYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0
