Hopefully this will work. This is my second clock. I can't find a photo of the first one, but it looked remarkably like the one on the link below.

What a clever idea - very effective! I'd never have thought of doing anything like that!!
I have finished knitting a jacket for myself but now I have to sew it up - my least favourite part of making anything. Wish there was some sort of magic wand to wave over the bits and - hey presto - all the ends weave themselves in and the seams magically sew themselves together!
I've started making a tea cosy. There are some fantastic patterns available. I wonder how many tea cosies agirl really needs!
On a completely different note - Does anyone else of a 'certain age' remember in the 50's Woman's Weekly published a series of patterns for knitted clothes for a Rosy (or Rosie) doll (about 6 - 8 inches high)? One of my school friends had the complete set, knitted by her aunt. I was so envious. It was every little girl's dream. I have searched the internet in vain for any reference to them and bought several back copies of WW from that era without any success.0 -
Hi Susan,
There was a rosebud thumbsucker doll at 6.5 inch tall, and the rosebud twins at 7.5 inch tall. I have them, and have knit lots of clothes for them, and to sell to others who collect. You can find facsimile patterns for them on ebay
edited to add: love the knitted clock, what a fantastic idea. also love the knitted room - I did see a knitted bus once in a small town near Manchester.
edited again to add I have nothing to do with selling on ebay - just have seen them on there!!

ViksB: Wow. that's an amazing clock. Did you have a pattern for it, or made your own up. Have you thought of marketing it? It would just fit in nicely in the knitted room that was posted here.0

I like to browse old patterns on this website:

If you scroll down the page to the titles starting 'WW' there are lots of patterns for the dolls you remember.

I would love to think it was that impressive!! It is incredibly easy to make, hence I have made two!! It is basically garter stitch and lots of leftover wool. It only took a night to make.
I must confess I have thought about selling it on ebay, but I didn't think anyone was as crazy as me to like it! and I love it too much.

Hello everyone. I wanted to pop my head around the door and join in the fun! I have been knitting since I was a young girl.
I have a lot of patterns from 1930s upwards that I have collected over the years. I love them as they are basically a history of fashion. I also adore the old bazaar knit patterns etc.
At the moment I am a bit of a crafting obsessive as well as a busy mum, so like to knit small items that don't take too much time or concentration.
So that is me. I look forward to getting to know you all.0 -
I had those Rosebud twins....great feats of smuggling went on to get them for me, as at the time duty had to be paid on anything coming to ROI from UK....think that my aunt bought them and brought them home on her next holiday....wasn't I a spoilt little girt?? Love the patterns on that site, will get one or more to knit for Margaret, my almost 59 year old doll.

Arghhh. Rosebud Twins, what a tip-toe down memory lane. Fair brought a tear to my eye.
I had those dolls but I think only once did a kind 'borrowed' aunt knit clothes for them. Most of the time they were dressed in my very early and not very good attempts at dressmaking.
Any knitting I attempted in those days came undone as I could cast on and knit but couldn't cast off and it was year's before I could find anyone with the time and patience to show me.
Can do it know though,

Just after a bit of advice. Nearly finished knitting my 15 month grandson a stripey cardigan, it's done in 4 colours with each stripe approx 1 inch. How do I go about sewing the seams.....do I use all the loose ends and sew each stripe with the same colour wool, which is going to be time consuming (but I suppose they have to be sewn in anyway) or will I be able to use one colour to sew up the seams. Thanks for any advice you can give.0
