Cuddles - no not wishing for more cold, no way!!!!!!! Just wanted a very quick project and this was perfect. Also rather hoping Mr S's law will work - make something for winter; get spring!!!!!
LV Sue - love the scarecrow. Have you also seen the Alan Dart website? There are some lovely things on here as well.

I've just finished him. :j
Many years ago I met a fellow caravanner on a campsite and she had knitted the whole scarecrow family and had them all displayed in the front window of her van.
I loved them, especially Sam, and vowed I'd make him one day. I bought the Jean Greenhowe pattern book off fleabay about 18 months ago and finally got around to knitting him! He's supposed to have a robin perched on his right arm, but I'm not happy with the way the robin looks so I've left him off.
Maybe I'll get round to knitting some more Scarecrow family members one day.
He looks amazing and exactly like the one I was given when I was a child (which I still have at my Nana's I'm going tonight and will dig him out and take a picture!) - which book was it from?Using my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos0 -
Thanks Cuddles, I'm very proud of him.

Thank you.
Yes, I have seen Alan Dart's website and knitted the fairy mice from there last year for a friend's little girl. There are some lovely patterns on there.

How lovely that you still have your Sam Scarecrow from your childhood.
He's from Jean Greenhowe's Scarecrow Family knitting booklet.

When my 14 year old granddaughter saw the pattern booklet she wanted me to make it for her, but this one's mine
Maybe I'll make her one as well - but then I'd have to make one each for my 4 other grandchildren, so maybe not!:rotfl:0 -
I don't know if anyone else has seen this (done a search can't find it on MSE), but Woman's Weekly have a code for 20% off at Deramores - WWRO12 (not sure if that is the letter O or zero it's not clear in the text).
Unfortunately the discount doesn't apply to clearance stock or any other promotion or offer, still, if you were thinking of buying something anyway...
Be quick if you're tempted as it's only until 29th February 2012.
Thanks for this Mrs Money it is the letter O, saved me some money.0 -
LVSue That's a brilliant scarecrow. Where is he going to reside? I remember knitting a lot of Jane Greenhowe's patterns when my children were little. In fact my mil has still got the piper, complete with bagpipes! Fun knitting, but all those bits to sew after, oh my!
I don't know if any of you would be amused to see an email that I received from a vets about rabbit spaying. (for my knitted bunnies) I sent an answer and got one back....I thought it was funny. The letters are on you know where!!0 -

Love the scarecrow, my DS2 still has his Humpty Dumpty (which he named ee-dump!),as well as the policeman and fireman (all Jane Greehowe) that my mum knitted for him...he is 19 tomorrow!

I've never appreciated how much work goes into knitted things until I started doing last year. I had Sam and my sister had Sally (I'm the one who hoard see things - my excuse is that my children will love them [though children are not on the cards for a while
] I even have an “expression” doll from when I was seven or eight.
As payday is only 8 minutes away I think I'll order some yarnUsing my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos0 -
could anyone tell me if double knitting wool and baby double knitting wool are the same or is there a difference0
-
They are the same weight so you can substitute them in patterns. Baby DK tends to be softer for more delicate skin.£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
