HELLO LACE KNITTERS!!!!
I have started my first lace pattern (ysolda teagues Veyla) ... but when i do a YO do I knit that on the next row like its a new stich? Am I making any senseI seem to get to about line 5 of the pattern then find I have too many stiches already ((
Ooh Veyla is such a pretty pattern! Yes with lace on the next row you either knit or purl the yarn over like it's a new stitch (depending on if it's knit flat in stockinette or garter stitch or if you're knitting in the round). You shouldn't have too many stitches though as each yarn over should be paired with a decrease (unless you're supposed to be increasing the stitches as you might if you were knitting a triangular shawl for example) meaning you get the pretty lace pattern and yarn overs but keep the same number of stitches.
Does the pattern indicate how many stitches you should have? Have you checked that if you're not supposed to increase each YO is paired with a decrease to keep the number of stitches even.
Lace can be tricky at first but it gets easier, I obsessively count each repeat to check I have the right number of stitches until I get into a flow :rotfl:

KnitPros - there seems to be quite a discussion and excitement about these knitting needles. Can any of you good souls put me in the picture regarding the 'pros' of Knitpros? I have over the years replaced just about all my needles with bamboo ones which I find gives my knitting a better tension.0

Ooh I LOVE my knitpro needles. I mostly have nova tips which are the metal tips but they do wooden ones as well and I have a few of those. I just love always being able to find the right size and length of circular needle when knitting in the round or cables long enough to hold all my stitches and be able to stretch my work out when knitting larger flat items like a shawl. I've also found I do prefer knitting with circular needles even for flat knitting as it's not as heavy, the cable holds all the stitches whilst they're not being knit and they can rest on your lap so it's easier than having lots of stitches on one straight needle.
They also take up less space storage wise than long straight needles.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member #398 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts :T

Thanks lambanana. I have never enjoyed knitting with circular needles (or 4 x double pointed). I have a collection of all the main sizes which I have collected over the years which I think will be fine for the odd item I might need to knit with either circular or double pointed needles.0

I'm another knit pro fan. I have the wooden version and the tips are really smooth while the cord is more flexible than other circulars I have had. My disappointment has been that one of my 3.5mm tips snapped while I was knitting.
I need some 3.0 tips so I've just ordered metal ones, I thought they might be stronger, from Get Knitted (no affiliation). I ordered them on the internet this afternoon and they got back to me to say they had been dispatched by 1st class post within two hours! I'm impressed. They could arrive tomorrow morning!!! I'll let you know.0 -
