Sal....seems to be knitted sideways with some short rows to shape...I knitted one recently from a pattern I got on favecrafts.com/Knit-Hats-Gloves-Scarves/Speckled-Striped-Hat/m1/1

Pattern says 42 sts which I think would be fine if you want a turn-up....if you are using thicker wool than recommended maybe take off a few and proceed as per pattern, I used 36 and it was fine but no turn-up. No advice to offer on lining I'm afraid.

Hi Julia, have you joined Ravelry.com? If not, I suggest you do so (it's free :j) and then once joined do a search on the yarn and it will come up with some pattern ideas for the particular sort you have.

Warning - Ravelry is VERY addictive :cool::cool:

    Hiya,

Thanks for your reply. I've had a look on there, can see that there's some patterns listed on there but can't actually find the patterns to have a look at. Can anyone help?

    Hi Folks

I bought this hat at the weekend in the Manchester Xmas market and my daughter was asked at the time if she'd like one, but said no.

Now though, she's always asking to borrow mine so I thought I'd knit another one, but can't find a suitable pattern. It's really thick chunky wool and is lined with fleece inside.

Has anyone seen a similar pattern anywhere please? I know there's loads on knitting central and ravelry, but can't quite see what I'm looking for on there?

    Thanks,

    Sal

I have knitted a few similar hats and as someone has already posted they are made by knitting short rows. This pattern is easy to follow and quick to do (and free).

I have always knitted them using two strands of double knitting wool together.

If its anything like Can Can or Loopy yarn, you just need to knit all stitches.
    Good luck.

    Just a thought but...

Do you know what would have happened if it had been 3 wise women instead of 3 wise men?
They would have asked directions, arrived on time, helped deliver the baby, cleaned the stable, made a casserole, brought practical gifts AND there would be peace on earth. :rotfl:

Pass it on to the wise women in your life - Happy Christmas!

Happy Christmas everyone, hope you are all enjoying your festivities.
I got some yarn (yay) from hubby- 100% wool which I might use to make a felted coat for the Kindle my mum got me.
Also finished some socks this morning.........they were so easy to make, I might make more! All the information and more photos are on my ravelry project page.
