That's a lovely hat OrkneyStar, very cute.

I've finished my jumper, a few problems with it, some parts are a bit stretched and loose and there were large holes at the armpits with I've bodged up, when I cast off originally it was too tight and so when I put it over my head I stretched it and somehow unravelled it all but it's finished :D

    Hi Everyone

Have just found this thread and wondered if anyone could help.

My nearly 90 year old mum is still knitting! She has asked me to find her a knitting pattern for a cardigan for a 3 year old boy.

She likes to work with double knitting wool and really needs something very simple.

Have trawled through all the links in this thread and cannot find anything!

Am not a knitter myself (shame on me) so has anyone any suggestions?

    Many thanks

Hi pmlindyloo - great to hear your Mum is still knitting - mine would love to but struggles with bad eyesight and arthritis in her hands.

Not sure if you've heard of Ravelry - great site and free to join, with thousands of patterns.
I did a search and found these free patterns which may fit the bill

Thank you so much. Had just been onto this site when I saw your message.

Not much available for a 3 year old but have found one on Ravelry which I hope will be suitable.

Mum is in a care home and knitting is an absolute godsend for her. I think she has supplied all the care workers with their knitting needs!

Sure, this is the link, but you have to join the Bernat site (free) before you can get the pattern. I found it through ravelry, where the link took me to Bernat site, and I had to join up first. This pattern is for bulky yarn and it called 'Beret' by Bernat design studio. I just added the button as I thought it needed something.

Thanks OrkneyStar, will go and have a look.

Can anyone tell me how to do an easy neat shoulder seam on a waistcoat which was knitted in garter stitch (apart from the ribbing at the bottom) please. Is there a foolproof video I can see? Really don't want to mess up my hard work by my bodge job at seaming :o

    Thanks!!
