I'm doing some wristwarmers, didn't have dpns in 5.5mm so had to try and learn magic loop.
It was all going great until I tried to do the thumbhole...there's now a pretty design of several rows of plain above the stocking stitch and before the rib. It looks nice and I'm not about to undo it - but now I have to c*ck up the second one exactly the same, with no idea how:rotfl:

That's exactly what I did. Fortunately I'd written it down as I did each row (and still followed it wrong) but I was able to do the same on the next one.
I bet they'll look great anyway and as long as they keep your hands warm :)

  • I've just finished knitting a cardigan for a friend's lo, only one sleeve left to attach, is it wrong to feel proud? XD

I have a scarf to finish for mum as well, unfortunately it was supposed to be finished for her birthday in September. but I done something to my arm, ad my hand went numb, but one more re[eat, then block. Then no more knitting until after xmas (like that'll stick!)

You're so good, and fast, at socks Orkney, I always get distracted.

Orkney- How many things do you make in a week? Everytime I log in there is a new addition! And if you do those socks when you`re
still recovering, your tunover must be massive.

Perhaps you should open a shop! xx

I have just finished a jumper for DD - but it is a bit too short.

It is worked in SS throughout and i am really loathe to undo neck and front and back down to armholes in order to lengthen it - is it possible to knit from the bottom to make it a bit longer?

Could you add a border in a crochet pattern to lengthen it? That might work.
I have done 4.5" of my cardigan so far. I'm past the second lot of decreases too. In fact, I'm 1 row away from the third lot of decreases. It's knitting up quickly enough but it's very boring knitting long purl rows isn't it? And it takes aaaaaaages to do each row! I'm at about 20 minutes per row at the moment. Oh well. I may get this one finished by new year. It would be lovely if I could finish it by Christmas though :)

To be fair the pink/purple striped socks were about 80% done before I got ill, they were Two a a Time Magic loop and they seem to fly off the needles. I have started another pair of socks, cuff down, one at a time, and am currently at the stage of doing the gusset- this is the leg section with 5 repeats of pattern (pattern suggests 7 repeats but 6 seems long enough for me). I elongated the heel though, with more rows (of course heel not done yet on this pic!).

As for a shop, nah, I am a selfish knitter and lots of it is for ME!! I am still trying to get a full drawer of socks so I need not buy any more, and of course DH has told me he wants more, as does DS!

Anyway better go feed DS his brekkie!

Gasp  I see what you mean about being brave! Hmm I'll have a think. It knitted up pretty quick so i might unravel. I will attempt that method of cutting (again,) on a test piece maybe. I'll see but thanks anyway.

DD1s hot water bottle in Aran on 5.5mm needles. V.v. quick to do and only two mistakes which is quite remarkable considering I'd never cabled before. Screwed up and bought a mahoosive half kilo ball of wool and still have a heck of a lot of it left so am knitting wrist warmers but getting rather frustrated at only having 12 stitches on 30cm long DPNS. Seem to spend more time sliding stitches down the needle than actually knitting.

i am hoping to knit a hat for my mum tonight, i need to start soon or will never finish it in time. but have already spent too long scouring all the usual places we use pattern central etc but so many varieties to open up once you type in hat. she is only 5' 4" petite frame so need to be careful doesnt look like tea cosy over her hat. she also wants in done in the long eyelash yarn which worries me a bit for the finishing item but on the plus side the wool is quite thick, am using it at the moment to make her a cardigan and using a size 7mm. hopefully someone may have a pattern they can share with me using this same/similar sizes so will knit up quick....thanks to anyone that may be able to help

Very pretty hot water bottle cover.

Re the 30cm DPNS - yes, I've had the same frustrations. Did a collar on them once, back in the late 1970's and hated every minute of it. The moment I discovered circular needles, I swore I'd never use DPNs again. And I didn't, until about 6 years ago, when I started knitting socks. That's when I discovered that length is an issue - it is much easier to knit socks or wrist warmers on 15cm or even 20cm needles. Longer than that and I can't keep my DPNs at the right height to knit - when I try, I keep stabbing myself with the far ends. (Sorry, Boys. Bigger isn't always better ;) )
