Update- as you mostly know I have been ill for last week (well more than that overall, but really bad for a week). Ended up having a night in hospital on Fri- chest infection and non-stop vomitting. Home now, still very tired and coughing. Suffice to say no knitting (well two rows which made me feel I had run a marathon) on my textured socks been done since about 1 week ago. Aiming for lots of rest and trying to get back too something like normal.
Nice to see all the knitting and welcome any newbies.

    ETA Same post on ravelry.

Oh dear, I hope you feel better soon.
Still knitting the jumper, have a few more rows to knit and then I can do the sleeves before the joining it altogether part which looks very complicated.

Sending you cyber hugs Orkney - really hope you feel better soon!
Just finished first Grandson Jumper -for oldest grandson. Half way through a second for youngest grandson. Then I have a third to make. Same jumper, just different colourways.
My Mum was taken ill on Friday and was almost taken ibto hospital. I had to promise that I would stay with her as she is dizzy and light headed, so have virtually moved in until there is no risk of falling. Thank goodness I can take my knitting!

I presume its the back or front of something (rather than a sleeve)

Row 1, cast of 4 stitches each end
    Row 2 pattern as normal
Row 3 cast off 2 stitches each end
    Row 4 Pattern as normal
Row 5 Cast off 1 stitch each end
    Row 6 Pattern as normal
Row 7 cast off 1 stitch each end
    ROw 8 Pattern
Row 9 cast off 1 stitch each end

You should have cast off 18 stitches altogether for your size

    HTH

Ok, thankyou for that. I am still a bit muddled though, lol. If I cast off 4 stitches at the end of the row, wont I be stuck to knit the following next row as my wool will be at the end, not where the next row of stitches begin?
    Sorry for being an idiot.

Oh yes, it's the back of a jumper.
    Titch :)
  • Try doing it this way:

Row 1, cast of 4 stitches at beg of row
Row 2 cast off 4 stitches at beg or row
Row 3 cast off 2 stitches at beg of row
Row 4 cast of 2 stitches at beg of row
Row 5 Cast off 1 stitch at beg of row
Row 6 Cast off 1 stitch at beg of row
Row 7 cast off 1 stitch at beg of row
Row 8 cast off 1 stitch at beg of row
Row 9 cast off 1 stitch at beg of row
Row 10 cast off 1 stitch at beg of row

That should give you the same decreases, but your yarn should be in the right place each time.
