I recently decided to take up knitting and wondered where I could get the materials from affordably in london?
Please can someone help me out.
Thanks:o
cafeknit.com seemed quite cheap for the needles I could'nt get locally so might be worth a look and they delivered quickly:)
Yarns I've been looking on ebay (but keep getting outbid!) and hobbycraft usually have some reduced yarnsFinal no going back LBM 20/12/10Debt Jan 2011 [STRIKE]£28217.65[/STRIKE][STRIKE][/STRIKE] DMP start 01/02/11 -[STRIKE][/STRIKE]

thanks cuddles this is perfect style but worried over using the double thread. the wool i have seen comes in an 800g cone for about £20 including postage so in this case would cost £40 which is over my budget as would need probably 3 cones as she wants the length to be bum level. are there any others out there please?0 -

You could also use the eyelash yarn alongside a cheap DK yarn?Jack of all trades ... Master of none

Join ravelry- it is free (https://www.ravelry.com), then you can search for whatever patterns you need. People can search for you, but tbh it is easier to do it yourself as only you know what your price limits, time limits, difficulty level etc are. Kezbabybabe- nice squares. Good way to learn different techniques. No, I'm not buying any more books!
Orkney - nice socks again.
Cuddles - I have pm'd you, I hope, never used pm's before
Well, as worried as I was about the really bright jumper, I got a "wow nanny wow" when I handed it over to GD1 today. So being a soft nanny I had to pop in the shop on the way home from play park and buy some more Splash. Have to knit with sunglasses on if I have to keep knitting that stuff..

Just got home from an appointment and shopping.
Bought some Zip metallic yarn to do knitted necklaces, and also found some fab buttons.
I bought 16 balls of Big Softie at 99p per ball and I'm going to knit Gilets for both of my sisters for Christmas.
I know that's a dirty word, but I'm planning ahead and couldn't resist the bargain price.
Have just sewn up a hat for my Grandson - made to match the Guernsey jumper I knit him. I'm really pleased as I've managed to copy the pattern across and knitted the whole thing by winging it!

Well, after falling off the edge of the planet for a while I'm back! Today is my last day at work and so I have a big decision to make - should I catch up with the housework which has gone a bit awry or should I do some knitting, which I haven't been able to do for ages due to lack of time/illness? Decisions, decisions!0

My recipe for retirement.
Do a little housework.
Feel superior because of said housework.
Sit and knit smugly.
Repeat daily with occasional sorties out into the sun.
I have frogged my Shop Hop shrug, sobbing as I did so. Looked lovely until I tried it on. Then it looked awful. As it was the lovely Rowan I got cheap, I have soaked, dried and am making a scarf. Yes I know it's May, I am getting ready for winter!
Am very excited to have found a chart for Buzz Lightyear. 2 yo gd is besotted by Toy Story. I am going to try to work it onto the front of a sweater for her birthday.0 -
I've finally got a picture on! Think it took me longer to do that than it did to knit the hat, this is the slouchy hat I made for DS2 (my first attempt with DPN) amazingly he really likes it:jFinal no going back LBM 20/12/10Debt Jan 2011 [STRIKE]£28217.65[/STRIKE][STRIKE][/STRIKE] DMP start 01/02/11 -[STRIKE][/STRIKE]

Whilst I'm not in London, I found that market stalls are by far the cheapest for me for both yarn and needles. Lucky to have a few specialist knitting shops but these come at a high price. HTH0
