Jenny...I love it! The way you have used different colours makes it much better than the pattern IMHO. Think that I wouldn't bother felting it if it were mine, to show off the lovely intricate work it involved....but then I like to make a big deal out of everything I do!

:o am feeling lonely on here so hoping more people will pop on later and can help with my many issues. still not found solution to my mums cardigan and while looking for some black dk that is here somewhere to try to make into a shrug, i have come across a stash of the £1 chenille wool in black from poundland all 21 balls of it and 13 balls of a machine washable dk from debenhams a 75% acrylic and 25% wool in a kind of blue marl (bit winter looking) and then some wool called argyll francoise also in a blue but paler sort of pop corn effect, some for sale here

give you better idea. what i would like if poss is some ideas to use up all this wool. am a relative beginner although been knitting for 20+ years. where i go wrong is if doing a pattern which i can follow no problem, the minute it says dec bla bla bla im a gonner just cant figure out what stitch should then be my next to keep pattern correct. so with this limitations can anyone suggest some item for me to get knitting. also please anyone who can help with adding a sleeve to an already knitted garment details above a couple of posts be very grateful0 -
Homealone....I think that I would use 4 doublepointed needles to pick up stitches all round the armhole and then knit the sleeve downwards....if you can find a pattern for a sleeve with approximately the same number of sts as you pick up that will give you an idea of the shaping needed. If you can't make the pattern stitch work could you just knit it in stocking stitch finishing with a rib.
I think that Ravelry or knitting pattern central would be best places to look for patterns for your stash, you can then decide what you would like to knit and see if it works for your wool.
Good knitting

Can't remember who posted the original link to the rowan union jack stuff, but I knitted the flag pattern from the bottom of the scarf, pic is on my bl*g - thanks0

thanks marie, unfortunately dont have any of those needles and even if i got them would not know how to use them. plus would still leave me problem of not knowing if i have enough wool for 2 sleeves which was why wanted to knit sleeves at same time. so when nearing end of wool could just cast off and have 2 the same size. oh how i wish now it was just a straight sleeve i could just sew on. may need to tell het it cant be done. or could i try picking up the stitches and knit up in half a sleev ata time and sew together once sleeve completed. doesnt solve problem of not knowing if enough wool but as i said i do have 2 50g balls and then another ball. could try doing a 50g on each arm. with it being eye lash yarn it is quite forgiving so rib, size of needle or what stitch is used would not be noticed. i guess as knitting down rather than up i would not have to do too many rows before placing it on arm and seeing how it looks??? god what have i let myself in for :eek:0

I have 3 projects on the go at the moment, a shrug in Rowan Damask, I bought the wool from a charity shop 2 years ago, I've knitted the back & started one side. I can only knit this when my eyes decide to focus properly & the light levels are high as there is a lot of counting involved. For taking out & about I have some dishcloths I'm knitting as these are small & portable & for when I sat at home I'm knitting a bathmat out of old tea shirts.
