Could anyone point me in the direction of a free pattern that they would recommend for using Rowan Damask with? I got some in a sale, mainly coz I loved the colour, but I don't want to buy the whole Rowan book that goes with. I want to knit a ladies cardigan or top with it, something quite funky. Anyone subbed this yarn for another?

Yay! I have a finished object. Click on picture to enlarge if you wish. (Thank you Cuddles for helping me sort photos). Yes it's another pair of socks. Have set out to knit youngest son seven pairs for days of the week. This is pair five. Mind you eldest son is showing an interest now. Oh sigh.
Off to London this week for youngest's wedding. Will catch up when I get back.

Yep, the link to the pattern is on my project page for these. Or just search for Circle Socks....

i knitted a waistcoat for my mum a few years ago in the eyelash yarn (not a great choice) she has now decided she would get more wear out of it if it had sleeves. i explained couldnt get same wool but as luck would have it i managed to find 2 50g balls untouched and what looks like a half ball. must have bought to many in the beginning. it has a straight shoulder you know the type where you dont decrease for the arms. anyway, first problem being cant tell what stitch i did it in and have no idea what size needles i used but going to try and find original pattern. not knowing how long a sleeve i will get with the leftover wool i thought it might be a good idea if i were to have both sleeves on one knitting and can then stop both when nearing end of wool. as for advice does this seem the right way of doing it? how will i hunt out on net a free pattern for sleeves that i can use? wool allowing would it look best to do a short sleev or will any length look ok?

since post above my mum has given me the waistcoat and i have found original pattern. on good side i now know the bulk of pattern is a stocking stitch on a 6mm needle, bad bit is that it is decreased for shoulder and arm. i am hoping no one will mind me posting the bit of pattern that is for the decrease in the hope some one will be able to advise me on how best to proceed. i can see how i messed it up a bit already by two fronts being longer the back and looks like i must have gathered it while sewing to match it up... well here goes how to best fit a sleeve into this:
armhole shaping continue in garter st only, bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows, decrease row (RS) slip 1. k1, ssk, knit to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2, repeat dec every other row 7 times more - 38 sts. work in this way until armhole measures 8" ending after a WS slip 1, k1, ssk, knit to last 4 sts k2tog, k2. repeat dec every other row until armhole measures 8", after a WS row. then details of shoulder and back neck shaping

Hi all, it's very quiet on here, I guess everyone is out enjoying the lovely sunshine. I've been sitting outside talking to my rabbits :o and working on my latest project, and I suddenly thought it would be nice to show you what I've done so far.

I rarely spend any money on patterns as I seem to get everything I need from Ravelry or Knitting Pattern Central, but when I saw this I just HAD to make it! Isn't it beautiful? I'm not sure that mine will be quite as good but I'm quite pleased with it so far and it has to be felted yet which will make a huge difference.

So *takes deep breath* here it is.
Oh dear, here we go again.
