I am ashamed to say that I have done very little knitting over the last two weeks as I have just had an unexpected hosue move. One things I find with knitting is the more I do, the more I want to do and the less I do, the less I feel like starting again. Is it just me?
:D

Brilliant! The friend who taught me to knit always says that come the Apocalypse, it's only us knitters who would be able to make our own clothesI must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -
Thank you, i think i will buy the 1st copy for 99p and then get a book. Can you recommend me a good step by step knitting for beginners book? A book with lots of pictures maybe? Lol! I need all the help i can get!
I learnt with this book, can't recommend it highly enough. It starts at the very beginning but right away you can make things:

I got it about 18 months ago and haven't looked back. And although I can now make more advanced things, I'm still using a lot of the ideas from the book as well.0 -
Oooh, love the knitting story...my gran taught me when I was 4, and my mum taught knitting in my primary school, along with the other teachers. Sad to see that Shetland axed their programme only last year...hope it is being kept going by local volunteers. I did teach my oldest son to knit, he made a scarf for his teddy, but then got distracted by other pastimes. DS2 has show no interest at all, except when asking for more hats and socks!! :rotfl:
Loving all the makes on here...I am still knitting DH socks. I have been distracted this week as I have been X-stitching a :happyhear card for DH..will post piccies of it tomorrow on the X-stitich thread.
Have a good Sunday, raining here today, so may get some knitting done sometime!

Ha ha stupid me! Bought some of the scarf yarn from L**l and tried knitting it on 8mm pins not realising you are supposed to open it out and knit a ruffley effect-thought the fabric was a bit stiff and would give a very chunky scarf!!! Having said that I may knit up a slouch bag for the summer as the colour looks really nice knitted up chunky!"Sealed Pot challenge" member No 1099 2011/£26.00:j

That sums me up exactly, I just never realised it before! Also, when I come on here I realise how little I actually finish - lots of UFO's, so have decided to strictly try and finish a few before I start more, so now I've stopped knitting again! Right, I'm stepping away from the computer and picking up the knitting ..... wish me luck! :rotfl:0 -
hi all
I'd like to join if you'll have me.....
I haven't knitted for about 25 years but I wanted to pick it up again. I bought that newThe Art of Knitting magazine yesterday so have been refreshing my skills this afternoon.
Well I have learned so much I didn't know-I can cast on in a new way using wool in my left hand and control the wool in my left hand as I knit garter stitch. I feel really proud of myself that I have made a start. :j
I am looking forward to being able to knit for a future grandchild as my daughter got married last year.
Have a good evening all

Found it hard to join.
Quick question please.
Will be knitting a hat for grandson from a pattern I've done before. This time I have Chunky instead of DK.
Should I use smaller needles?
this is the exact kind of wool i used to make a waistcoat for my mum, i came on here few weeks ago asking if anyone knew of a pattern for sleeves i could knit up to join on. unfortunately not found one yet but think i found original pattern for waistcoat which shows it was knitted on a 6mm needle in a stocking stitch. have only ever used size 4mm before with wool making scarves, would it knit up ok on a 6mm and will it show if wrong pattern and not a ss or a 6mm needle?0
