Hi Frisco. Sorry I can't help with the pattern as such. But I managed to pick up an old aran booklet from a local charity shop. it does have a man's cardi in there, but it's a V-neck, so not much use to you. Otherwise you'd have been very welcome to it.
Definitely worth checking in all the local charity shops. Mine came from 'Help The Aged' and they had loads of patterns behind the counter along with lots of old needles:D0 -
Hi frisco:hello: Welcome. I'm afraid I can't help with the pattern except to say that if you are going to be knitting for a new grandchild, perhaps the aran cardigan could go on hold until next Christmas. You won't want to miss the joy of all that cuddly baby knitting.

Hi Frisco,
I have lots of Aran patterns somewhere....think that there is bound to be a cardigan with collar somewhere...will try to get it to you over next few days...last time I tried to post a pattern I couldn't get it to work, so not sure if I will succeed...my advice would be that you should take Bella's advice and knit for baby first

I don't know never knitted for a baby before I may be asking for help0

thanks that would be great, I seem to have a bee in my bonnet about this cardi

A man's aran cardigan with pockets and collar is a big project especially for someone who is 6ft 6in tall! You will feel as though you are knitting forever!
Personally I would attempt the baby items first to get the feel for knitting - then the thickness of the aran wool will feel as though it is really getting done quickly!
I'm a very experienced aran knitter, and I did a cardigan for my dad once (size 46inch chest - with pockets). I was on that cardi for aboslutely ages AND it cost me a small fortune in yarn! But he really appreciated the finished garment.0 -
i know it's going to be a big problem time wise but i don't mind it will be a once in a lifetime thing unless the other son wants one and he's taller0

Have just got a brilliant book out from the library called " At Knit's End - Meditations for women who knit too much " by Stephanie Pearl-Mcphee aka The Yarn Harlot.
She has a really good website www.yarnharlot.com , another favourite site to take me away from my housework!
The book would make a really good pressie for knitting friends/relatives.0 -

Great site Fozz. Never mind the housework as long as it doesn't take us away from our knitting.
I'm now doing baby jacket number four in Sirdar Confetti - a thick yarn on 7mm needles. They are very attractive done but I don't like thick yarn and big needles and can't wait to get back to some DK on 4mm.

I actually like to knit with 4 ply wool on fine needles, really don't like thick wool at all but have been using it for my scarves...still one or two if I can to do tonight and tomorrow...not very time consuming so might make it.
Not sure how things are going to go with hm presents, if they are for people I don't see very often they can go on back burner, but must keep going on baby clothes for DD2 as six weeks is not that long.
