  • I'm knitting lots of squares as well, very relaxing! Will be making lots of blankets :D I just can't decide whether to try and learn crochet to crochet a black border around the squares and join them, or just whip stitch them together.

  • Well done to all knitters who finished their pressies and baby garments on time. I feel it is good to have a deadline, it keeps the motivation going.

Now that all my baby garments are completed and sewn up at last DH has suggested that it might be a good idea if I go to bed at a reasonable hour. Not sure if I can sleep a full night through but I'm going to give it a go, I can always lie and plan what I am going to knit next. I might crochet a couple of baby coats as they grow quicker, but would that mean I would be thrown off this thread?

Good night and happy knitting to all,

    Bella.

Still seems like an awful long way to go to check it out before bidding - I think that I'd have to do that before even considering trying to get that sort of money together - and then there's the collecting...

SIL in law was very pleased with scarf and it did do the twirling thing. I was a bit worried at first when I was casting off because there has to be a bit of length before that starts to happen, which I hadn't realised, but once it ws completely finished it did look really good. The beads are so tiny that even doing them over 3 rows didn't make them scratchy (I was a bit worried about that as well) so all in all I think that I might do one for my sister's birthday in February.

Did your daughter like her scarf as well?

Currently I am experimenting with left over cotton yarn that is in the house and dishcloths. I have done a corner to corner one in garter stitch DK on 3.75mm, and now I am doing the same pattern but in 4ply (ish - it's a European yarn and a friend thinks that it might be more like a 3ply) on 2.75mm. I might do a top to bottom one as well, possibly using different stitches, and then try them out for practical usefulness before making a decision as to whether they will be something that I really go in for, for myself and for presents.

Yes thanks Seakay, she loves her scarf.

I bought a couple of cotton dishcloths ages ago on e-bay...from an animal charity shop. They are just in a plain garter stitch and are lasting really well. I throw them in some bleach and boiling water every week or so and just rinse them out.
There are some interesting patterns on-line...a lot also seem to use them as wash cloths....I presume that's the same as a flannel.
