Does anyone have...or has seen on a site somewhere...a scarf pattern using Wendy Pampas....mega chunky...or something like that. :rotfl:

Miss Twit has bought herself 2 balls of this wool and wants a scarf. I think she is hoping for something striped....but not the narrow way....wants long thin stripes. She has bought cream and brown wool.

I have had a bit of a google...but to be honest, I'm feeling far too idle to scour the net.

I actually like to knit with 4 ply wool on fine needles, really don't like thick wool at all but have been using it for my scarves...still one or two if I can to do tonight and tomorrow...not very time consuming so might make it.

Not sure how things are going to go with hm presents, if they are for people I don't see very often they can go on back burner, but must keep going on baby clothes for DD2 as six weeks is not that long.

Ooo no Marie, 6 weeks will fly by and the baby might arrive early like tooties dgd did, not that I want to panic you.

Just a word of advice. Having recently had a lot of baby clothes to knit and much prefering to knit than sew up, I did leave a lot of the sewing up until the end and then it was SUCH a pain, much wiser to do it as you go, but then you probably don't need me to tell you that.

I can imagine all your lovely fine baby clothes done in four ply (I don't mind four play either, but certainly no thicker than DK) I guess they look a picture.
Talking of which, are you any use at posting piccies, we'd love to see what you've done. I'm not hot on the technology bit either, not that I have anything to photograph at the moment as all mine have been given away or are still in pieces awaiting sewing up. Shhhh. Trouble is, I can read these threads while I knit, but sewing....., well!

I have 18 sock heels to do before christmas  I do peasant heels on my socks and have left them till the end so I have a big pile of heelless socks and a big pile of little balls of wool to match up - never again!

  • Hi Everyone:hello:

I'm just wondering if you all managed to get all your pressies knitted?

All those sock heels sounded a bit daunting to me.

Well, my knitting is almost up to date. I've still to finish off a couple of the baby things I've done for the last baby but I won't be seeing them for a while and I've done second size anyway, so there is no rush.:T

Just my stash to work on then. I have managed to do six squares of the pink and white patchwork baby blanket. OK it's going to take quite a while at that rate, but Rome wasn't built in a day. :D

Somehow, I have to keep myself away from my local wool shop when they start their Sale.

    Happy knitting to all,

    Bella.

More or less - and then I forgot to wrap and give them. The majority of them are for family I'm seeing in January so I will give my dds theirs at the same time. Still have some to do though

Hi knitters, room for another knitter please?

I love knitting but haven't done so for ages. It will be my sister's 40th this year, she used to live in the States and loves that American country look. I have this idea to knit her a blanket with different coloured (earthy, reddish colours) squares. Squares so I don't get bored too easily.

Now, I was thinking to do little patterns in the squares (like knit one pearl one and P1 K1 on following row) bear with me because I am dutch and have no idea what all these stitches are called!!.

does anyone here have any ideas for easy patterns to do in a square?

I am going back to read more of this thread, and to get to know you all a bit

Hi mumoftwo, I have seen the most amazing wrap thing on the knitting daily site.....it's done in a sort of log cabin quilt effect, very unusual.

I will go and see if I can find and then post the link....bear with me, I may be some time.

You do have to register on the knitting daily site, but there are some great patterns.

  • stefejb you did well to get all that knitting done.

tooties, so did you, and now knitting for a shop as well as a new baby - I stand in awe!

mumoftwo,:hello: Welcome to the knitters thread. I am knitting squares as well. I cast on 24 stitches and knit until I have a square, sometimes knit on purl one as you said and then reverse on the next row. One I have done knit 4 purl 4 for four rows and then reversed it - I think this is called basketweave stitch.
You could probably get a book from the library with lots of different stitches in, and it certainly breaks the monotony if you do different ones then when you don't feel like concentrating you can always revert to stocking stitch and mix and match them. Happy knitting.

I am steeling myself to keep away from the January wool Sales but I MIGHT just have a look, because, well you never know do you?;)

Didn't get all my knitting done in time for Christmas, not disciplined enough to have kept going full speed until finished and then found the last week just flew...losing two days of it to be a birth partner didn't help, but have almost finished one baby cardigan...would like to have six and hats...no blankets done but that mightn't be a problem...DD2 was two weeks late with first baby but swears that she is going running if necessary to prevent that this time...we'll see!

Love that 'quilt' pattern in Knitters Daily...maybe in March!

Usually take the easy way out and get others to do pictures etc but maybe will try to be more adventerous in 2008

    Good knitting all
