Hello Ladies!
This is my first post on this website, after lurking for a little while. I am so glad to find people like me, who like to knit, stitch, save money etc. I went into a charity shop this morning looking for patterns, after it was suggested on here.......I got two pattern books, with 19 patterns in them in total, two further patterns, totalling 21 in all. The cost? 40 pence!!! What a happy girl! I'm just knitting a jumper for myself, in some wool that was reduced in my local wool shop. Hadn't knitted for years, but the urge took hold again and I couldn't resist! Only done the front rib and one 12 row repeat so far, so I.ve a long way to go.
Could someone tell me what some of the abreviations on the forum mean? I know BF is boyfriend for example, but some I'm not sure of.........sorry if I'm having a stupid moment, and thanks for putting up with a long first post!0 -

You could use four double pointed needles instead -http://www.astro.cornell.edu/~brs/stockingcap.html
or I imagine that you could knit an isosceles triangle on straight needles and then sew a seam.0 -
We swapped out Secret Santa at work today & I got a M&S Christmas tree decoration that is a fairy knitting a sock. & I have nearly finished the last pair that I'm knitting as Christmas gifts

That's really cute. How many pairs of socks have you knitted to earn this trophy?
What do you plan to do next when the rush is over.

Finished the whatatwit scarf in the wee small hours this morning, and now it is all wrapped and ready for the present run in about half an hour. It looks really great, so special thanks to whatatwit for the original pattern, plus all her work on the alterations and corrections!0
