Bella, I've been thinking since I last posted and I think you are right. I'll start on a baby blanket and if no one needy shows up by the time its finished I'll give it to a charity sale or something. It'll be a nice little project and as you say, easily transportable.... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Do any of you buy yarn online? I like to get a touch of if before I buy but if I knew the brand name it might be possible to find it cheaper on line?
I have bought yarn from e-bay recently - it was a popular type so it was only a little below RRP when you added the p&p in, but there was nowhere selling it where I live so it was worth it for me.0 -
Hi all
I'm still here. I keep reading to find out what you're all knitting. I'm knitting loads at the moment and will get round to updating here when I can.

I agree, it's great to hear what everyone's up to. Me, I'm just finishing a hat for DD - she's had quite a few ear infections over the last month or so, so I've knitted one of those hats with flaps to keep them warm (it was the earlier post that started the thought off, so thanks to whoever that was!).
I've sort of stopped my jumper for now, will pick that up again in a few months time I think, and have been asked to dig out some baby patterns for mum to knit up for when the baby arrives. Will obviously be doing some myself - although being a summer baby, he/she won't need much in the way of warm clothes!
Haven't really got the attention span or inclination for large items at the moment and I'm getting some stiffness in my wrists - however, if you don't mind me stealing the idea, I might knit up some squares for a baby blanket. Will keep my hands busy, but easy to put to one side.
Hope you're all well and ready for Christmas!!?

I bought some wool from a UK site...kemps wool shop and am very pleased with the quality...the company were very nice too, had quite a bit of contact as it was during your postal strike and parcel was returned to them twice! No idea whether it was cheap or not as by the time everything is 'translated' into euro it seems very expensive. They do have sales and offers so living in UK you would probably make a saving that way
Anyway, back to the needles while I watch Emmerdale etc

rosiben and Ishtar I'm so pleased the baby blanket idea it catching on, I'm sure you won't regret it as the one I saw looked lovely. Ishtar, if you're not sure of the sex of the baby you could use green and yellow with white, or multi pastel shades. I can't wait to start one but at the moment I'm racing through this Sirdar Confetti jacket size birth to three months and hoping that it is going to fit the baby who was 8lbs 10ozs born so she won't be in it for long. They're going up north to Grandma's at the end of the week so I won't see them again until the New Year and the baby will have grown by then I'm sure so I'm thinking I might yet some more yarn while it is in the Sale and do the next size as well. Never a dull moment.
I do card crafting as well, so have been busy making baby cards this afternoon and in case you are wondering, yes I do housework to distraction and I cook and bake LOTS.

Does anyone know where to get the small (7") knitting needles from please? I used to have several pairs, made by Aero, metal ones, they were very handy for using under the desk at work (night receptionist back then!) And really useful for doing small baby garments. I've still got them here....somewhere.....but I've not seen them for ages, so I might have to replace them.
If we are allowed to recommend sites for knitting and crochet supplies, could I recommend www.knitone.co.uk? They have a good range of wools, patterns etc, and they send orders out really quickly - I ordered a pattern and a few other bits and pieces on Friday at 9.30 am, and had the goods on Saturday morning! They do charge £2.50 P&P though, so it's worth ordering a few bits at once.
I ordered some Sirdar Snuggly (for my Mum to make a cardigan for my premature nephew) and in the interests of moneysaving, I ordered a cheaper brand - Stylecraft Wondersoft - and it's really good! I'll certainly use that again.
As I'm the only one in my section in work on the 27th and 28th, I feel some 'covert knitting' coming on! :rotfl::j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

Sagaries, Just looked at the site you recommended and they do the children's needles 18cm/7" long. The p&p would make them a bit expensive but if you were doing a bulk order?
