lynseydee- when I need to add a new ball when knitting in the round, I knit with the old thread, catching the new one behind it, then with both threads for a few stitches...the old and the new ball, then just with the new thread knitting a few stitches catching the old thread behind. I then don't need to sew in the tails very much and they aren't so obvious from either side.
Hope this helps, sorry if I've not been very clear
Orkney...your cape is wonderful...is the pattern on Ravellry??
Yep it is, the link is on my ravelry page.
Here it is in daylight:Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Here's the photo I rpomised of the jacket I made for my daughter's friend's baby - due next month. The pattern is from Garn Studios and is available free on the internet here.I used Snuggly 4ply. It took quite a long time to knit as it is on 2 1/2 needles. The jacket is knitted in one piece - so only the sleeve seams to stitch up at the end - and the shaping is done using short rows.

Would love to though!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Oooh OrkneyStar that cape is lovely!
I made more progress on my purple socks at the weekend but have also started a February Lady Sweater as my second cardigan project, a top down seamless on so only have to sew on buttons and sew in ends when I'm done! I'm using some Rowan Felted Tweed Aran I got in the sale at John Lewis with my Christmas money and it's lovely stuff. I think if I could only knit with one sort of wool it might just be Felted Tweed, the colours are great, it washes well and it feels lovely.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member #398 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts :T

My new wool came from e-bay....................sssshhhsssshh though I am not meant to be buying any!
(It is some King Cole and Sirdar stuff).
The cape was so easy to make (pattern on ravelry). I love the sound of the Rowan Tweed stuff....I nearly got some Debbie Bliss Aran Tweed last week but got this other stuff instead.
Here is a little picture:

Hah! I saw that you stashed all that on Ravelry and did wonder if you'd been on a spending spree or what! LOL
Did you buy it as a batch? Was the ebay seller good? If so, can you pm me their ebay ID? I often look on ebay but never seem to find much.0 -

I bought the sirdar stuff and pattern from one seller and the other stuff as separate lots from another seller. I have used the second seller before, no cheaper than elsewhere really but was very happy with quality/service before.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

You lot are all putting me to deep shame! I seem to have hit a brick wall. I promised myself I wouldn't start anything until I finished the second sock (which was meant to be for Christmas!). It really wouldn't take me long but I seem to have some sort of mental block about it. Meanwhile I have been looking at and coveting Rowan Kidsilk Haze wool and patterns - however I have a bit of a problem with the fact that Rowan patterns always seem to be in a book costing upwards of £10, on top of already expensive wool.
Right, that's it, step away from the computer and pick up the DPNS and finish the sock!0 -

Just wondering if anyone can help please?
Want to knit a Mug Cosy for my nephew as part of his birthday pressie in his team colours. Would you believe they are black and orange!
The one colour of wool I don't have is orange.
Can't find any locally at all so have been looking online. I can buy 50g (I need about 25g) but the postage is ridiculous!
I have also looked in Charity Shops, but no joy.
Can anyone suggest anywhere with reasonable postage please? Some are charging £2.45!Jack of all trades ... Master of none
