I thought about buying the book, but there are loads of patterns online.

    Still looking for some though.

    Hello Everyone

I know there's lots of free patterns out there, but has anyone got a favourite knitted cot blanket pattern that they use often?

It's for a baby girl, thanks.

I use one I got off a charity site called 'Ray of Hope' You start with 3 stitches, inc at the beg of every row ( I inc in the second stitch to give a nice edge) carry on till you have used 100gms of wool then join a second ball of wool dec beg every row till you are back to 3 stitches. I actually use slightly less than 200 gms this leaves me enough to crochet round a shell edge. If you use 4mm needles and dk you get a really nice blanket and it doesnt feel as much like hard work as knitting a square the usual way.:)

    Thanks Orkneystar.
Its really warm and far easier to wear than a scarf.

Just finished this for my Grandson as he grew out of the last one

Ooh - love this. I haven't knitted fair isle for years and years - think I might give it a try again.

And this is gorgeous, too. Would you be able to post the link to the pattern?

I want to make some plant pot covers and this would be a lovely pattern to adapt.

I have just finished a baby jacket for a friend of my daughter who is expecting next month - I'll post a photo later. Just now I am crocheting a rug for my baby grandson's room - he was born on Wednesday and we are hoping they will be allowed home from hospital today.

  • Not sure if this is the right place to ask but does anyone know where/how I can learn to knit for free?

I've taken a book out of the library but I'm not sure it's going to work out that well as I'm struggling with the casting on bit!

I really want to be able to knit things for my daughter but at the moment we are having to rely on my grandmother who lives too far away to teach me. :(
