  • I love that cowl its so pretty. Where did you get the pattern from?

I did the mug cosy with a straight cable needle.
The cowl is knitted on big needles and has large cables, so I used a bent cable needle otherwise the loops slipped off the needle.

I've looked at how to do cable without a needle, but never tried it. I really thought cables would be hard - and I'm sure some are, but the basic ones are OK. I bought a magazine with a booklet about cables and it came with 2 free cable needles -Issue 55 of Knit Today. Its still available and I can recommend it.

Found the pattern on Ravelry and adapted it slightly

    Thanks Orkneystar.
Its really warm and far easier to wear than a scarf.

Just finished this for my Grandson as he grew out of the last one

Not sure what it is as I got it reduced on a market with no band on.
Just altered things slightly as the biggest needles I had were 7.5 so tried it against the measurements. I didn't do as many repeats as the pattern (2 instead of 3) but it measures about 22".

  • Help with sock/mitten knitting please. I have never done anything other than jumpers/blankets/toys. This calls for 3 needles. Do I cast all the stitches on one needle and then divide them up? Maybe someone can point me in the direction of a good tutorial please?

    Hello Everyone

I know there's lots of free patterns out there, but has anyone got a favourite knitted cot blanket pattern that they use often?

It's for a baby girl, thanks.
