:D Sorry for getting your hopes up! I've a funny feeling England had the same offers a few months back - not sure if they do them in Scotland at different times but one good thing is they always seem to come around again.

I got quite excited myself but have told myself not to go mad as I can't afford it!

Oooh snowed in! Well I hope you have enough food and wool to keep you going! :)

Thanks NualaBuala - luckily where I live I am well used to getting snowed in, it's just usually further on in the year! We always have the freezers and store cupboard well stocked. We can survive quite well - as long as the power doesn't go off. I have two daughters (16 and 3) and one is permanently glued to CBeebies and the other to the laptop - I'll leave it to your imagination to guess which is which. If the power goes it's a nightmare - I would just sit and read or knit but the kids go loopy!

PS - of course I have enough wool to keep me going - even if it snowed for the next three years! :rotfl:

Well I'd be like your little ones ... was just saying on another thread I'd be lost without electricity!!!! Sounds like you are nice and cosy - enjoy! :)
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

It makes total sense not to have all of the UK and Ireland with the same offers - a logistical nightmare methinks! But, even though I am still snowed in and skint - I want to buy sock wool on offer! Now! :rotfl:

On a more serious note, I am in a quandry. My 3 year old has broken one of my bamboo needles (again), so I cannot get on with my jumper, I cannot get on with the socks for my husband's christmas while he is still in the room so, I can either (a) sew up a baby cardigan I rustled up (I always keep a project in the car, as you do), or (b) go upstairs into the (freezing) loft and go into my stash and start something completely new and exciting. Any guesses where I am heading in the next ten minutes? Answers on a postcard, which won't reach me because we've had no post for four days now! :T

I finally have a finished project to show! Some socks knit for my friend at work's daughter. She gave me the money for the wool and I did the knitting. Normally I say no to knitting requests, particularly socks as it's a lot of time and I'm a bit of a selfish knitter and if I'm spending so much time knitting something I want it for myself :o I agreed though as the daughter is lovely and my friend is retiring soon so it's not going to become a regular request. Also her daughter only has small feet so they didn't take too much work!!

The wool is XXL Trekking in Pink Vanilla socks weer 60 stitches on 2.5mm needles just plain old stockinette simplicity.

  • Thanks to blueberrypie's fab instructions, I have finally finished my first doll's hat!!!
I'll admit it took many attempts of un-doing and re-starting ..... and is actually far too small for my DD's doll but I'm well impressed with myself :rotfl:. Daughter actually loved it too, but it's not wasted as it's now on her little teddy's head.:rotfl:
So a big thank you once again :D

Well I'm really getting into this now.
I've just spent 2 1/2 hours knitting the medium size hat and it JUST fits on the dolls head .... lol
Oh well third time lucky with the large one and hopefully it will be perfect :D

I'm really disappointed as I finished off sewing up my jumper, have put it in the wash and having looked at it noticed that one of the sleeve joins doesn't look like the other three which means I've now got the arduous task of unpicking and sewing it up again

Can't even put it off as I wanted to wear it to my work christmas party in a couple of weeks :(
    Did owe £9,951.96

Okay, can any kind person help me here?

I'm on my first ever pair of socks and have hit another snag. I have 34sts which are for the heel flap.

    The pattern goes thus:

    Heel Shaping

    Row 1: sl1P, p18, P2tog, P1 turn
    Row 2: sl1K, K5, sl1K1, psso, K1 turn
    Row 3: sl1P, P6, P2tog, P1 turn
    Row 4: sl1K, K7, sl1K1, psso, K1, turn

    (so far so good)

the pattern then says: Continue in this way until all sts of heel flap have been included.

I'm normally okay at this, but obviously having been snowed in since last week the brain has turned to mush, because I have tried it three times and it hasn't worked.

Can anyone give me the next few rows - thanks! I won't tell you what I thought it was in case I just confuse matters!
