Right, so it's 21st November, I'm knitting a jumper for myself, socks for my beloved and was looking for purple aran wool to make gothic victorian lacy armwarmers for my niece (okay, so it makes two pairs and I can keep one pair for myself!). Anyway, happens into shop in Portobello and finds "gonks" using 50g wool and before I know it, my 16 year old has decided that is the way to go for all her friends - no pressure!
Hopefully going to finish the first one tomorrow so I'll try and post a photo. If anyone is interested I can copy the pattern - simples!0 -
Hi,
After a weekend of playing with her dolls, my DD has now asked if Santa could bring her some woollen dolls hats and scarfs (pink, blue and purple!!!!).
She already has a lovely white hat (piccies as below).
My knitting skills are very basic, I can manage the scarf no problem, but would really like to give it a go with the hat.
I've had a good look at the hat and to me it just looks like a tube, gathered at the top.
BUT ... would it be the same number of stitches all the way through ??? or wider at the bottom???
Also, can anyone suggest what stitches I would have to use ... ie, knit/purl.
and needle size ???

Kinkine, what on earth is a gonk?!!!
Good luck with your projects!
Candy, how big is the doll? The hat pattern for Innocent smoothie hats is very simple, and they're quite teeny?
My son asked me for similar this week, for his bear. Have done him / it hat, scarf & gloves, now just need to get in gear to knit a jumper & pants for a flipping teddy! As if my project list wasn't long enough!!!!Debts @ LBM#1(2007)-£4375

Thanks hunnybeanz, I'll have a look at that link.
It's for the 'Baby Annabelle' doll (not the small one).
Just thought along with a scarf, would make some nice small and CHEAP stocking fillers (luckily have the wool already).
Thank god my DD's happy with dressing her teddy in just a baby's vest.
I just wish I could find a local knitting class to go to.A creative mess is better than tidy idleness0 -
Ooooh, in that case a premmie hat should do the trick?
There is a simple pattern called Linda B's super stretchy hat, or I found that if you knit up the innocent hat pattern in a chunky wool and bigger needles (about 7mm) it knits up to the same size as a premmie hat?
http://www.lovinghands.org.uk/superstretchyhat.pdf the premmie hat. (it comes in 3 sizes too)

Hi folks,
How is everybody then ?
I am fine, finally finished my second Regia sock (on ravelry- the brown/green/pink/grey ones) and now started a pair of fingerless mitts for me, in Regia again (really bright). Still plodding on with DS school cardi- no rush as in bigger size and it is for school (red as school colour).
Decided to knit more, internet less, but still keeping up with here and ravelry- great to see all the projects.
Re baby/toy stuff have you tried knitting pattern central (http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/directory.php)- there is a doll section and a barbie section (not sure size of doll) so you should fins something in there. Small preemie stuff might do too. HTH. So far DS snaffled a preemie coat I made, and have also made socks for teddy and a crochet vest for dolly!
xx
ETA PS Puzled- will keep my beady eyes open for that black mohair wool- you just never know! I did see one person had some stashed- they did not mention wanting to sell but you could always ask them ?Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Hi I am a beginner, although at my age, I shouldn't be. I have just finished a cardigan (with my friend doing the fronts and the border all the way round which was murder apparently!) for my 1 year old g'daughter and her Mum now wants a hat to match with my remaining Snowflake wool! I can't possibly read through 95 pages but does anyone have a really EASY pattern for one please? I have never used a circular needle - would that be necessary? Can I just sort of knit a rectangle and then gather it up at the top with a bobble on the top? Something as easy as that if poss!0
