What's the problem with knitting in the round? Maybe we can help you get it :-)
when i've tried it my knitting goes so unbelievably tight, so i've never tried again!!

i managed to find a pattern i like now for a chunky hooded cardigan/jacket, but it needs 8mm and 9mm needles....i'm guessing the wool's gonna be mega thick lol!!

i never buy the wool the pattern tells me to, as its usually too expensive, so i'll have a look round for an alternative....my usual port of call is Boyes as we dnt have any wool shops round here, unless i have a look online

just got to finish OH's cable jumper (my firstest cable project :) )then i can get cracked on with it

i'm so impatient lol! i always manage to find my next project i want to do before i even finish the current one!! done the front and back, just got the sleeves to do now!! :T

One advantage of thick wool is it knits up quicker! I'm currently knitting my daughter a snood, basically a long scarf with the ends stitched together, it's double knit and I'm bored already, wish it was chunky! :o

Oh Babybug, I now have a mental picture of you trying to purl! You must have some determination! Anyway, that is how new stitches are invented - well done you!

:rotfl:Not that much determination, I gave up on purl and did the entire scarf in garter stitch ;)

I'm now practicing correct knitting, with a K2 P2 ribbed scarf in very chunky wool. Still an easy one, but the eyelash scarf I'm attempting is sooooo slow going and I wanted to do something where I could see some progress!

Lots of people do find their tension is different when knitting in the round. You could try the same pattern but with a larger needle-size. Are you finding that you have difficulty feeding the stitches from the cable onto the left needle, ready to be knit in the next round? There are things you can do to help with that, but they're difficult to describe in words! But it really is just about practice - with more experience, your tension knitting in the round will resemble your tension on two needles.

I had the stitch n biatch (it was censored, oops) book out of the library in the town I used to live in, and it had a whole section on how to substitute the correct yarn for the pattern/needles that you've got.

  • I'm still slogging away on socks and Christmas knits, everything is flipping 4ply and I really want to do something quick and chunky as a bit of light knitting relief! I must focus on my gift knitting though or it will never get done.

Just to say I have finished DS's gilet and final pics on ravelry---took 5 days from start to end....now on to another sock for me, or socks for DH, or wrist warmer for mum (b'day present to match her hat she got from me last month), or something for me, or another top for DS ?

Just to say that the Ops-Sox kit arrived this morning from knitncaboodle.co.uk - I ordered it at 1pm on Sunday so pretty good going considering I live in a pretty rural location! Impressed with the service from this company - thought I'd share.

So, tonight, I'm going to put down my King Cole Riot jumper and go straight into knitting my first pair of socks! Wish me luck!
