There are quite a few of us on Ravelry, and there's a MSE group over there - if you look at the "Activity" tab of the group, you'll see pics of lots of things the group-members have been making.

    Link for group: http://www.ravelry.com/groups/mse-ravelry

If you're not on Ravelry - why not? It's free and fantastic! :-)

I knit myself a new hat at the weekend, it does pull down further over my ears than in the picture but I just took a quick snap in my lunchbreak so I could show my on-line knitting buddies :D

The pattern is Brambles Beret from the latest Knitty.
That is lovely- I really like those styles of hat and it is a splendid shade too!

Would this wool be ok for knitting up socks? I want to give them a go but not sure if this wool is ok.

Can't answer your question I'm afraid but thought you might like to know that Kemps have this for £1.20 per 100g ball.

Can't see the price on the Readicut site so they might be cheaper, in which case just ignore me! :rotfl:
Oh dear, here we go again.

I did notice that. I have found some on ebay where someone is selling 1200 grams and the price is at about £10.00 at the moment. It finishes tomorrow morning so was hoping if it looked like it was going to go for a good price I would put in a bid.

  • I'm thinking of buying a pattern and wool as a Christmas gift for my aunt, who's a keen knitter. Any suggestions of a good website would be appreciated. Thanks

Kemps gets mentioned a lot. I've ordered from them before and they're not bad.

  • hi all, Im knitting a ponch for my mother in law and the pattern says to knit it all in garter stitch but im thinking that may be a bit boring , and boring to knit up as well (its just a long rectangle and the short edge sewn up to the longer side edge) im knitting with fairly thick wool on 9mm needles with 45 stitches and it will be 140cm long. does anyone have any ideas? i was thinking of some sort of mock cable (i havent mastered proper cable yet and havnt got time as i have a lot more xmas presents to get done!)

    p.s love that blue hat!

    thanks

  • Hi All.
I've not been on this thread before but I started knitting last year, just the basics, well blankets :rotfl:
A couple of months ago I managed to do my first ever cardi for my baby which is due in January! :D
I cant really read patterns yet and am still very much a beginner so hoping to pick up lots of ideas and get inspiration from you clever people on here :D

Dont know if anyone is interested but I am going to be attempting to knit tiny hats, scarfs & blankets for this group

  • Hello all
Can I join you please? I`ve been knitting for as long as I can remember, was taught by my Nan as a young child and I will be 52 next week.
First thing I knitted from a pattern was a pair of mittens for my baby sister when I was 10.
Have knitted lots of things over the years. Went mad two years ago knitting for my DGS who will be 2 in December.
Have two unfinished projects at the moment:
Long hooded cardigan for me - wool came from Kemps as recommended on this thread.
Waistcoat for DD which I started last year for Christmas and still haven`t finished.
Really must find both out and finish them off.
Look forward to getting to know you all.
