Starting from the start even if you're not, in case it helps anyone else - if you've added your project and just need to add photos, go straight to number 7 :-)


1. Join Ravelry.
2. Go to your Projects page (see menu on left of page - or if it's a pattern from Rav, you can click "cast on" on the pattern's page).
3. Click "add project" button.
4. Give your project a name and fill in the other bits - Rav will try to pick up the pattern if it's already in the Rav database, if not, just click at the bottom of the page where it says "if Rav doesn't have the pattern you can continue without linking".
5. Add whatever details you want for your pattern - yarns, size, who it's for, comments - as much or as little as you want.
6. Click "Save Changes" at bottom of page.
7. Click the "Add photos" tab near the top of the page.
8. Add photos from flickr or photobucket using your flickr or photobucket username, or by adding the URI for the photo's page from picasa or anywhere else on-line, or by going to "upload from computer" and uploading the photo from your own computer.
9. The photo will show in the bottom part of the page. Drag and drop it into the dotted square at the top. You will see a square part of your photo in that box. There will be a small box in the bottom-right, and you can drag it around to change which part of your photo is shown.

Oh thanks for all the explanation- got some on now which you can all see hopefully- changed my name to make it same as here! I have loads more stuff (pics on CD's) that I would never have time to load on and also loads I did not used to photo! Anyway will add from now on....probably not very impressive compared to some of you but it is a start....mainly socks for now and also a few hats.

Aw thanks- I did try to link my flickr account but is there a way you can do it where folks can only see pics and not any other info ?

Do you mean you want people on Rav to see your pics from flickr but not your flickr ID etc? If so, then no, I don't think that's possible. It might work if you used the URI from flickr for the pic - not sure, I'd have to check.

Or do you mean that you don't mind if people look at the pic on flickr but you don't want them to see all your flickr pics/info? That's easy - just make the pics you want for Rav "public" on flickr, keep the rest private.

Alternatively, set up a second flickr account, or an account with photobox or wherever, and upload the Rav pictures there instead.

I'm not sure about this one, but I do know that you have to mark your Flickr pictures 'public' and not 'private' if you want to link to Ravelry

Aw thanks again- I wish I could get this hat knitted faster- might try to do some this afternoon after I put laundry away, wash more, cook mince, play with DS lol xx

Have just started two new projects. A lemon and white hooded baby blanket in King Cole comfort Aran, and a pair of socks using DPNs instead of circular needle for the first time. It's quite scary now having three wips, but nice that I can take as long as I like with these now all my Christmas gifts are done and dusted! I can't believe I've managed it so early this year.
