    Just quickly popping on.
Here is my Crofter Chunky neck warmer :).
Lovely and warm and quick to knit (chunky on 6.5mm needles!).

  • Actually, the more I think about it... I might try knitting in the round to knit a cover for my new Kindle - might be a good starter project if I knit something simple like this: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/karens-kindle-sweater

    Hi everyone

Not sure if this is me being completely daft but is there some way to judge how many to cast on compared to what the pattern says if you use a different yarn/needle size?

So this pattern uses aran weight but I've got DK so I guess I need to cast on more stitches... but how do you know how many? Trial and error, just guess by the size of it?

  • Oh that neckwarmer looks so cosy Orkney! I've been wearing a my Buff around my neck since yesterday as I'm feeling chilly. It's quite thin though so I might make something like yours. When I've finished the neverending socks of course.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)

I've got 4 rows to go on my shawl and then I need to block it and I'm done, done, DONE!! Such an exciting prospect! I feel like I've been knitting nothing else for AGES (not at all true as I've been knitting sock and had knit a swap gift for a knitting forum I'm on but it FEELS like I've not knit anything else!) once that's done I can really get cracking on my Christmas knitting.

    Currently this is my list:

    -lace scarf/stole (4ply) for MiL
-lace shawlette (4ply) for my mum
    -socks for my mum
    -socks for DH
    -socks for best friend

    So no problem there...:rotfl:

  • That's some list lambanana! Is it for THIS Christmas?!! Cos It would take me till Christmas 2015 at the rate I'm going! :D Looking forward to seeing the finished shawl ... not long to go now!

Thanks to maytaurus and others for all the great links on this thread. :T

Thank you, I really love the Sirdar Indie! So far a made a few christmas pressie (can't say what though cause the people I made them for come on here!!!)
But they look great and feel great and it will be really hard to give away at xmas!!!

I'm making my OH a jumper  (this is a scary project for me!) with a pattern my mum found in her attic! Using Sublime Cashmere Merino Silk DK in Plum Pie bought from texere dot com.

I would really love to make socks and gloves but the 5 x double point needles part scares the wotsits out of me!!!
May next year everyone can have homemade socks for christmas!!! :D
